    1. Re: Photo
    2. I can't tell from the format if this is going to Sue or to Mr. Campbell. If it gets to Sue, your message of (eerily) exactly a year ago regarding Henry V.A. Relyea was intriguing. Do you know any more about Henry's parents or ancestors from the Albany area? I'd appreciate finding any link to my own RELYEA ancestors (Gilbert, son of Gysbert) from the Troy/Albany N.Y. area. I can't find anything beyond them back in time. Gilbert was my gg grandfather; his daughter married William Winne BURHANS of Ulster County.

    1. Re: PFLANZ of Black River Falls
    2. Hi Michelle, have some info for you, but not on Lily Fuchs. But you gave me Otto's wife's name. He used to winter here in Texas, down in Brownsville. Great place!!!!! His son Carl, married Rilda, who was the twin sister to my husband's mother, Ruth! Carl and Rilda had three children, the oldest, Fred, is, of course, my husband's cousin. They are meeting and going hunting in Montana in October. But I digress. Otto junior, as I call him was an undertaker in Portage, but have nothing more on him. Hope this helps. Do you know where the Sullivan Cemetery is in Brockway? Thanks, Judy

    1. RACE family in Black River Falls or vicinity, 1850-70
    2. If anyone is researching any families of the surname RACE in Jackson County 1850-1870, please write (directly, off-board) to exchange notes & research. Can anyone tell me how I can find records of possible acquisition or sale of land by individuals (whose full names I have) in Jackson County, during the two decades they lived there? I would like to determine exactly where the homes or farms of certain ancestors may have been, and to add further detail to their bios.

    1. Jane Race SHERWOOD, died 1853-1860 BRF or Jackson
    2. Trying to establish the exact date or year of death of Jane Race SHERWOOD (b 1834) and especially the whereabouts of her resting place. We believe she died in Black River Falls, or at least somewhere in Jackson County, between 1853 and 1860 (and not later). Does any have access to Jackson County cemetery books? Any help will be much appreciated. (This has been a puzzle now for two decades.)

    1. John H. THAYER, 1848 - 1904
    2. From the Adams County Press, Saturday March 19, 1904, Page 1 (apparently partially copied from the Necedah Republican) DEATH OF JOHN H. THAYER John H. THAYER, a popular traveling salesman for Smith, Thorndike & Brown, of Milwaukee, grocery house, died at his home in Sparta last Saturday morning from a stroke of apoplexy. Mr. THAYER was well known in Necedah having made regular trips here for years. Mr. THAYER went to Sparta in 1887. He was alderman of the first ward seven years, six years of which he served as president of the council, and during that time all the improvements the city enjoyed were in large measure due to his personal efforts. He was always a public spirited citizen who thought more of the advancement of the city's interest than his own welfare. Mr. THAYER was born in Lincoln, Penobscot County, Maine, in 1848 and came to Wisconsin in 1867, locating in Black River Falls and afterwards to Iona Michigan, where he was employed as a clerk. He then went to Neillsville , where for eleven years he was engaged in the mercantile business. In 1887 he came to Sparta to reside, and the same year went on the road for the wholesale grocery firm of Roundy, Peckham & Co., of Milwaukee with whom he remained until last Jan 1, when he accepted a position with the Smith, Thorndike & Brown Co. of Milwaukee. He was prominent in secret society circles, as a member of Sparta commandery No. 16, K. T., an Oddfellow, a Woodmen, past master of the A. O. U. W. and one of the grand trustees of that order for the state of Wisconsin. He was also prominent in the organization of the local lodge, U. C. T. a year ago. Mr. THAYER was married September 16, 1876 to Mary E. AUSTIN of Neillsville. They have three daughters and one son all of whom survive him. The funeral services were held from the church at Sparta last Monday afternoon and were largely attended by members of the orders of which he was a member, and citizens. ---Necedah Republican Mr. THAYER was well and favorably known in Adams county, having made regular trips to Friendship and other points for many years.
