Just a friendly weekly reminder of the Wisconsin Genealogy Chat Sunday night at 9:00 p.m. EST (Adjust for your time zone) We have been having a great group, so stop in and see if you can connect with someone else researching one of your lines. There have been a few questions about the chat so I will post the information here for those of you interested in stopping in and are new to chat rooms. 1- Go to http://huntsville.about.com/citiestowns/southeastus/huntsville/mpchat.htm 2- Click on "log on to chat" 3- In the Nick Name space- type the name you want to show in the chat room. Most choose something short and some put the state appreviation after the name, examples DebWI, JeanIL, RedWA, etc. You do not need a password or need to fill out anything else on this page. Once you type in your name click on OK, Connect lower left. 4- You have entered the chat room. You will type your messages in the space in lower left of screen where it says Type here. Type your message and hit enter. A couple helpful hints. To make the screen bigger and without advertisements click on the float button in the upper right hand corner. To enlarge the type - in the message space type *chat fontsize 14, this will enlarge the type font for easier reading. Hope this helps and hope to see some new names in the chat Sunday. Hey List, Just returned from vacation, so I thought I would post my interests once again. Charles W. King was born in Jordan, Green, Wisconsin on August 15, 1866 to George Richards King and Maria(h) Campbell King. George Richards King was the son of Hesdon Pryor King and Minerva Richards King. George and Maria(h) had a second son on January 21, 1868 and his name was George Thomas King. I have no information on Charles W. King except his date of birth and would appreciate any information available to fill in some gaps. Thank you in advance for your patience and assistance in this matter. Vern King Jacksonville, NC
Of possible interest. In search of the genealogy of George Mackey of Saratoga CO., NY and PA, 1819-1843. Ann Eliza Banta married George Mackey on 09 May 1843. Ann was the daughter of Isaac Banta and Amy Weeks. The place of marriage is unknown, but it could have been in Saratoga CO., NY as the Bantas lived around the Burnt Hills-Jonesville area. The Banta genealogy is well documented and published, with the descending line to Ann Eliza as: Epke, Seba [Sip], Hendrick [de Groot], Arie [Van Epps], Peter [Harris], Isaac [Weeks] The Mackeys migrated to Marquette Township, Marquette County WI around 1845. Four children were born, and all died at young ages. Here they farmed, and George died in Green Lake County on 12 Jan 1873. Ann Eliza is found in St. Louis, MO, Portage, Colombia CO., WI and finally in Los Angeles CO.,, CA., where she died on 11 Dec 1915. She was living with a sixth child, Frank Percy Mackey, at the time of her death. Frank died in San Francisco, CA., on 19 Jun 1941. The descending line of Mackeys, from George, through the fifth son, Adelbert George Mackey, is now well documented. Adelbert died in Pomona, CA on 18 Dec 1932. Adelbert's descendants are found in CO, ID, CA and elsewhere. The ascending Mackey genealogy has not been established. From a WI census record and WI gravestone I estimate the birth of George Mackey as 21 Mar 1819, in PA. How the Mackey family came from PA to NY is unknown. The fifth child, Adelbert, was born in Eastline, Saratoga CO., NY, on 06 Mar 1852. Tradition is that this Mackey line came from Ireland, possibly as a result of one of the potato famines. I would like to correspond with anyone interested in the Mackey or Banta surnames, particularly anyone with knowledge about these surnames in Saratoga CO., NY and PA. Thanks, Ronald E. Yielding Cathedral City, CA.
