Wi Obituaries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Wi/GreenObits/10585 Surname: Compton, Silver, Duckworth ------------------------- Albany, Green County Wisconsin Vindicator, April, 1894 Mrs. James Compton died at the residence of her son-in-law Azariah Silver, at Holdrege, Nebraska, of paralysis, Tuesday evening, April 24, 1894. Her remains were accompanied by her sorrowing husband, daughter Elizabeth and son-in-law Azariah Silver, arriving in Albany Saturday forenoon. Memorial services were held in the Attica Church Sunday, April 29 at 2:00 pm. The church was filled at an early hour with mourning relatives and sympathizing friends. The services were conducted by the Rev. H. A. Rogers of Albany. At the conclusion, an opportunity was given to the friends to look upon the face of she who had been a loved and esteemed neighbor to many present for over forty years. Very peaceful she looked in her last long sleep, amid the flowers she loved so well. She had come back to her old home and was interred in the Attica cemetery beside her son Hazon, who passed away thirty six years before. Mrs. Compton was the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Duckworth, and was born in Bolton, England, Sept. 26, 1814; was married to James Compton June 3, 1837. They came to this country in 1840 and settled in Kirkwood, Ohio. In May, 1853 they came to Attica, where Mr. Compton engaged in wood carding and cloth dressing business. On account of the failing health of the aging wife, they moved to Nebraska in February, 1893, to make their home with their remaining child, Mrs. A. Silver. "One by one they are gathering home" and in this case the husband, who has walked by the side of the departed one for over half a century, is lonely indeed. After a short visit with old friends, he will return to Nebraska to pass his remaining years with his daughter, who will do all in her power to smooth life's pathway. They return heartfelt thanks for the many kindnesses shown them during their affliction.
