Our mother, our sister, our daughter, and kind wife has gone to be with Jesus. Sarah Jane Carle Talmage was the daughter of B.F. and Mary P. Carle of this village. She was born in York Co., Maine, April 17, 1846. She was married to John F. Talmage Sept. 24, 1865; was the mother of eight children, four of whom are still living. There is one brother, four sisters, her husband, children, mother and father left to mourn their loss. She was a true daughter, a faithful wife, a loving and careful mother, a consistent Christian in all the walks of life. Her choice of accepting Christ at the age of 17 made life more bright and happy. She departed this life Sept. 5, 1893, after a severe illness, during which time she was perfectly resigned and conscious until the last moment. None but those by her bedside can fully understand what a halo of light and joy, when suffering such intense pain, the presence of Jesus was to her, and it made her resigned to the will of God. Sarah has always done what she could to make loved ones and friends happy; always ready to lend a helping hand whenever possible; and as the body lies in the casket, the cradle of heaven, the soul has gone to be with loved ones in heaven.
