The cause of his death was pneumonia. Mr. Fenton was born in the town of Preston, Chenango Co., NY March 14, 1817. When about ten years of age he removed to Chautauqua Co., NY. In 1838 he was married to Ann Whipple. They came to Wisconsin in 1845 and settled in Dane Co., near Brooklyn. In the following fall he moved to Attica where he spent the winter and then purchased a farm in what is known as the Norwegian Settlement, where he lived 6 years. He then moved to the farm on the town line which has since been his residence. Mrs. Fenton died March 3, 1894. Mr. Fenton was the father of 10 children, of whom 4 daughters and 2 sons survive him--Marancy, wife of Harris Smith; Melissa, wife of C. McCreedy; Emma, wife of W. Johnson; Lany, wife of O.J. Persons; Fred, who lives in Dakota and Gaylord, who has always lived at home and thus has taken care of his father since the decease of his wife and mother. Another pioneer has gone to his rest.
