Roberts on July 27, 1890 and died at Albany, Wis., April 5, 1897. It has been said by her parents and most intimate friends that at a very early age Carrie gave evidence of a superior mind and a wonderful attachment to the church and religious sentiment. It can be said of her "that from a child she hath known the Scriptures". After she joined the church she became more earnest, and devoted to the cause of Christ. She possessed that broad Christian charity "that thinketh no evil" but could discern the divine in every human soul; and that it needed the touch of the infinite to develop the divine and to give it the ascendancy. She will be greatly missed in the church. She was also an earnest worker in the Epworth League. In society she was an acknowledged leader and greatly prized. Her home life was most beautiful and lovely. God gave her a beautiful child, upon whom she lavished all the love of a true mother's heart. Dear little Shirley will be tenderly cared for by loved ones. Mrs. Roberts was an affectionate wife who loved her home and succeeded inmaking it a joyous and happy one. During her illness she suffered greatly yet not a murmur ever escaped her lips. She often said "I am ready when God calls me". She sweetly fell asleep in Jesus on the 5th inst. The funeral took place from the home on the 7th inst. conducted by the Rev. C.C. Swartz. She leaves a husband and one child, father, mother and four sisters who deeply mourn her death, but whom we hope "will meet again beyond the river". C.C.S.
