Death of Mrs. Joseph Harris An Old and Respected Resident of Tumwater Passes Away. Mrs. Joseph Harris of Tumwater died yesterday afternoon at 1:30 after an illness of several months, the cause of her death being cancer. She was born in Indiana in 1831, her maiden name being Sarah Turman. In 1854 she was married to Joseph Harris, who survives her. She was the mother of 5 children, 3 of whom are still living, D.A. Harris of Chesney, Mrs. Laura Strain, of Garfield County, and Mrs. Frank Kotick, of Little Rock, who was with her at the time of her death. Mr. and Mrs. Harris came to this state thirty years ago and settled in Garfield County, where they lived 20 years. Then for 2 years they resided in Walla Walla, and for the last 8 years they have been residents of Tumwater. Mrs. Harris was a member of the Christian Church and was known as a kind neighbor, devoted to her family and one whom every one of her acquaintances could rely upon as a friend. Her loss will be sincerely mourned by all who knew her. The funeral services were held at 2:00 this afternoon from her late residence at Tumwater. -- The Daily Olympian, Olympia, Washington, Sept. 29 Mrs. Harris was a sister of Mrs. F. J. Burt and resided in Albany and vicinity from 1846 to 1861.
