Monticello will be having their big summer celebration this weekend. As part of that celebration the MAHS (Monticello Area Historical Society) will be having an open house in the Drug Store "Peek at the Past". They will be open 10 AM - 4 PM on Saturday, July 7 and 12:00 PM - 4 PM on Sunday, July 8. They will be selling popcorn and probably ice cream cones as a small fund raising effort. Visitors may see some of the artifacts that will be in the display cabinets and can see how much work still has to be done to create a museum. The original Drizzle book (http://www.monticellowi.com/TITLEP~1.HTM) will be there for sale as well as the new "To You Who Answered the Call" Drizzle Photo Supplement. The Drizzle is $20.00 per copy and the new book is $30.00. All proceeds from the book sales go to support the activities of the Monticello Area Historical Society. In addition to being on sale at the drug store, the new book can be purchased at the Bank of Monticello and the M&M Café. It contains photos of 114 of Monticello's WW-2 veterans as well as additional photos provided by the veterans or their families. The text ranges from the prison camp diary of Harold Babler, memoirs of various other vets, clippings from the Monticello Messenger and in some cases excerpts from the original Drizzle book.
