Wi Obituaries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Wi/GreenObits/10505 Surname: Piersons, Phelps, Calif ------------------------- Albany, Green County Wisconsin Vindicator, Thursday November 7, 1889 Obituary On Monday evening, October 28, 1889, at 6:30 o'clock, Mrs. Rosemond Piersons, widow of the late E.B. Phelps, peacefully passed away, closing a life of quiet toil and usefulness. She was of Vermont parentage, of a family of 9. Mrs. Phelps was born in Vermont, Dec. 12, 1820, and passed the first 15 years of her life near Burlington, Vt. She subsequently moved to Dixon, Ill and later to Wisconsin. In 1840 she married Mr. John Calif, and of this union was born her daughter, Mrs. N.B. Murrey and again in 1856 she was married to Mr. E. B. Phelps and of this second marriage two sons now living and one daughter, now deceased, were born. Mrs. Phelps lived for over 30 years in Green County and was well and favorably known for her fortitude and her sunny disposition under toil and cares. When a few weeks ago she became ill with a throat difficulty she was taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. N.B. Murrey, and there received loving and careful attention and everything that could be done was done to add to the comfort of the closing days of her life. Mrs. Phelps was never identified with any church, but she belonged to the great church invisible and she believed in her Redeemer and His Word. A kind and sympathetic friend and a loving and most self sacrificing mother has passed away. The funeral, which took place on Wednesday, Oct. 30 1889 was largely attended. Her remains were taken to the Gap Church, and after appropriate ceremonies conducted by the Rev. R.N.Martin, were laid to rest beside those of her husband in the cemetery at that place. NOTE: I believe the name Piersons mentioned in the beginning might be her maiden name.
