They were sawing wood with a circular saw, and Ernie was throwing away the wood as it was sawed, when the balance wheel flew to pieces, striking him in the left leg and arm lacerating the flesh in a fearful manner and breaking the bones in both limbs. Drs. Larkin and Roberts were immediately summoned and did all in their powers to alleviate his suffering, but soon discovered that the poor boy could not live. Though terribly mangled, he did not seem to suffer a great deal, and was conscious until he passed away, about 7:30 in the evening. The funeral was held at the M.E. Church at 1:00 on Saturday conducted by Rev. J.F. Cowling, assisted by Rev. R.N. Martin. Rev. Cowling preached an appropriate and affecting sermon, after which the remains were tenderly consigned to their last resting place in our village cemetery. Ernie was a boy beloved by all who knew him, for his gentle and kind disposition, and will be remembered and mourned by this entire community. The grief stricken family have the sincere sympathies of all in this sad bereavement.
