Patterson, aged 90 years, 5 months and 14 days. Sarah Crawford was born in Madison County, N.Y. Aug. 27, 1801 and was married to Jas. Patterson Dec. 30, 1819, who died in 1840. The moved to Ohio in 1834, and came to Wisconsin in 1847, settling in Green County where she has since resided. (Transcribers note, it does say he died in 1840, and that they -- both-- came to Wisc in 1847, may have been a typo in the paper). She was the mother of eight children, six of whom preceded her to the better land. The son and daughter living are Frank Patterson, with whom she has lived the past 14 years, and Nancy Kerney, of St. Paul, Minn. She joined the Presbyterian Church in early life and after moving to Ohio joined the Congregational Church of which she has been a consistent member. Grandma Patterson was an excellent woman, always showing a noble Christian character and doing good wherever she was. But few live to such a ripe old age. She has had remarkable strength and when life's sun set it did not go down behind the darkened west, but melted away into the brightness of Heaven. She was a close student, loved the Bible, and read it constantly, and watched political matters with much interest, keeping pace with the times in which she lived. The old settlers are passing away, she being one of the first to settle in Green County. The funeral was held Saturday at the house, conducted by the Rev. H.A. Rogers, the interment taking place in the Jug Prairie cemetery.
