Wi Obituaries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Wi/GreenObits/10488 Surname: Glennan, Jenks ------------------------- Albany, Green County, Wisconsin Vindicator, Thursday, February 4, 1892 Glennan: At his home in this city on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1891, Richard Glennan, aged 68 years, 1 month and 7 days. Mr. Glennan was born in County Meath, Ireland, December 25, 1823, and came to America with his parents when four years old. In 1854 he settled in Vernon County, moving from there to Richland County in 1857, coming to Albany in 1858. He went to work in a woolen mill when a young many, learned the trade, and has operated many mills in different sections of the country. He also took great interest in educational work having served as superintendnet and teacher many times. In 1863 he enlisted in Battery D, 1st Wisconsin Heavy Artillery, serving unti 1865, when he was honorably discharged. Mr. Glennan assisted in starting the Albany Woolen Mills in 1878, which he has operated most of the time since. In 1852 he was married to Cynthia Jenks, who with four children, two sons and two daughters, is left to mourn their loss. Deceased bore a good name--has left an untarnished record--was a man among men. His death cast a gloom over the entire community. The funeral services were held at the M.E. Church today; the pastor Rev. H.A. Rogers, delivering a beautiful and comforting sermon. The services were largely attended by sympathizing friends and neighbors.
