Wi Obituaries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Wi/GreenObits/10512 Surname: Jacobson ------------------------- Albany, Green County Wisconsin Vindicator, Thursday, January 28, 1892 Gilbert Jacobson died at his home in the Norwegian settlement Thursday, Jan. 21, 1892, aged 73 years, 8 months and 23 days. His illness was of about two months duration, and when the final summons came he had "set his house in order" and was ready and willing to go. Mr. Jacobson was one of the pioneers of Green County, having settled on section 8 town of Albany in 1850. He has held a number of offices of public trust and discharged the duties devolving upon him with strict fidelity. Courteous, kind and obliging, he won the respect and esteem of all who knew him. Mr. Jacobson united with the Norwegian Lutheran Church in early life and has ever been a faithful worker in his Master's vineyard. He leaves a wife, one son and three daughters to mourn their loss. The funeral was held on Saturday, the Rev. Scherben, of Orford, conducting the services and the remains interred in the cemetery near his home. Grandpa's hands are folded now, folded on his peaceful breast; Grandpa's sorrows now are o'er, he has found eternal rest. Oft the weary spirit pleaded in his suffering here below "Father, dear, if Thou are willing, I to Thee would gladly go." And the loving Father heard him, as he weak and suffering lay, And his soul passed through the portals of the pearly gates today. Here his pleasures soon were numbered, while his trials were not few, but if e're their weight oppressed him, there was none but God who knew. Gentle, patient, uncomplaining, with a kind word for us all, waiting ever for the summons, glad to answer to the call. And though the thought that he has left us, cause our hearts to swell with grief, Yet to know that he is happy, makes it still a glad farewell.
