Wi Obituaries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Wi/GreenObits/10494 Surname: Morris ------------------------- Albany, Green County Wisconsin, Vindicator, Thursday, January 31, 1889 Obituary Mrs. John Morris Mrs. John Morris was born in the parish of Llanbister, Radnor, Wales, March, 1823. She was married to John Morris in 1844 and came to him with this country in 1852. Their first stopping place is what is familiarly called the English Settlement, a few miles north of this village. After a few weeks they removed to Jug Prairie, where they lived about 16 years, after which they removed to what is now known as the Morris farm, a mile south of this village. This was the family home for about six years. Since that time it has been the house in which Mrs. Morris died. Ten children survive her, seven sons and three daughters. Four sons and one daughter reside in Iowa, one daughter in Minnesota, one son in Dakota, another in Washington Ty., and a son and daughter in this village. Mrs. Morris joined the P.M. Church in the English Settlement and when she came to town became a member of the M.E. Church here. She was a hard working woman and a strict, if indulgent mother. She saw to it that on the Sabbath Day her children were not found desecrating it but were at Sunday School and church. She endeavored to "train them in the way they should go" and they have not forgotten it. Today they mourn their loss and behold the vacant chair of the one they loved. Between her and them is the narrow stream of death, but such will not always be. Theirs is the privilege to meet her; yes, to meet them again, where they will part no more. God grant that they may. The funeral services were conducted in the M.E. Church last Sunday at 10:30 am, Rev. R.M. Martin assisting her pastor, J.F. Cowling, who preached the sermon to a large congregation of relatives, friends, and those among whom she moved for many years.
