Wi Obituaries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Wi/GreenObits/10528 Surname: Nichols ------------------------- Albany, Green County, Wisconsin Vindicator, Thursday, August 11, 1892 On the evening of August 5, 1892, there passed away at the family residence one of our oldest residents and a landmark of the place. Bartle W. Nichols was born in Newark, Wayne County, NY, Feb. 2, 1838. He came to Albany with the family in 1846, which place has been his home nearly all the time since. He has spent some time traveling for his health, stopping a year in California; but consumption had fastened its hold upon him and to which he gradually succumbed. During his sickness he was wonderfully patient, cheerful and hopeful and on the morning of his death he remarked that he was so happy, looking bright as though he really had a glimpse of the beyond. For the past 17 years he has given nearly his entire time to his widowed mother and sought to gratify her every wish. Thus has gone from our midst a good man, deeply mourned by his friends, enemies he had none. Brief services were held at his late residence on Monday afternoon by Rev. J.C.Carter, and his remains were placed in the family vault. The relatives have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
