    3. "Preservation Of Old Documents" will be the title of the program given by Donna Long Kjendlie a the September 1 meeting of the newly formed Green County Genealogical Society. The meeting will be held in the Monroe Public Library, 925 16th Ave., at 1pm in the Community Room on the second floor. Ms. Kjendlie has been researching family history for over 25 years, has given programs in Southern Wisconsin on several subjects, and has taught genealogical classes on many levels. Ms. Kjendlie has also compiled indexes to books of interest to Green County. She will present ideas for preserving old documents and demonstrate how to unroll and encapsulate them. Other artifacts such as textiles, dolls, quilts, etc. will also be discussed. Most importantly is that any process that is used to preserve artifacts should also be able to be reversed. Other preservation methods such as storing textiles and old photos will also be covered. Members and guests are asked to bring documents, artifacts, and questions that can be used for discussion. Bring photos or descriptions if the artifact is too precious or too large to travel. The meeting is open to the public. Election of officers will be on the agenda as the genealogical society prepares their business for the following year. On the slate for nominations are John Dundee, Brodhead, President; Donna Long Kjendlie, Beloit, Vice President; Michelle Anderson, Monroe, Recording Secretary; Peggy Gleich, Janesville, Corresponding Secretary; Susie Hillison, Monroe, Treasurer. Nominations are open and members are encouraged to volunteer for offices and committees. Refreshments and social hour will follow.
