Hey Listers, George R. King is my 2nd great grandfather and I am trying to find information regarding his time in Jordan, Green, Wisconsin. George's parents Hesden Pryor King and Minerva Richards King apparently had a farm in Jordan and I believe that Hesden may have been an attorney in the area. Hesden died in Jordan, Green, Wisconsin on July 1, 1866. George joined the Wisconsin 31st Infantry and saw some action during the Civil War. In March of 1865, he was captured at the Battle of Bentonville here in North Carolina. George was mustered out in May of 1865 and headed back to Jordan. On the way, he met and married Maria Campbell in Kane County, Illinois on November 17, 1865. I know they lived in Jordan for at least five years, because they two children born to them in Jordan. One son, Charles W. King was born on August 15, 1866 and the other son, George Thomas King was born on January 21, 1868. Is there anyone on this list that could help me find more information on this family? Any type of information would be greatly appreciated. I would like to thank the list in advance for your assistance. Vern King Jacksonville, NC
