    3. Posted on: Green Co. Wi Biographies Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/GreenBios/103 Surname: McCauliff, Doyle, Mahoney, Lewis, Kelley ------------------------- Just recently made a connection with a collateral line--the Doyles and decided to relist in Green County. Thomas MCCAULIFF settled near Monroe (Adams Township in 1850). His wife was Mary BARRY. The younger 3 of their children were born in Green County: Edward, Thomas and Hannah. The only one from this trio that I have found info on is Hannah who married Thomas MAHONEY in 1876. Hannah and Thomas were living in Lafayette County by 1900 with their 7 children. Two of the boys became priests in the Madison or Milwaukee diocese--I have conflicting references but have not checked either of these sources. The older McCauliff children were William b.1839 (my great grandfather) who married Jane Lewis in Green County July 1 or 4 , 1866. They later homesteaded in NW Iowa in 1871. John MCCAULIFF was 2nd son and he moved to Butler County, IA sometime after marrying Susan BRIGGS and having 4 children. Next child was daughter Catherine whom I believed married a KELLEY but have no knowledge of what happened to her. Then Mary Ann married a DOYLE, unknown first name. They had at least 3 children that I have traced: Magdalen b.1871 who married Joseph CROTTY, Jane b. 1890 who married MCGEE (in Butler County) and Catherine b.1893 who also lived in Butler county in 1900 along with mother Mary Ann and sister Jane. Prior to Butler county residence, I am pretty sure they lived in Shullsberg, Lafayette county. Do not think that any of the Doyle children lived in Green County but there are ties I would like to check if anyone is researching any of these Green County names.

    3. Hi Everyone: We have been getting some very good queries and entries on our GenConnect Pages. I do have a word of caution, please. Try to make sure that the entry you are making is on the correct board. Some of you want to tell us that we are doing a good job or something is wrong. Please don't post this on the query page, send it either to the list or to the coordinator personally. I realize that some of the material is hard to categorize as to whether it should be in there at all. Lots of times, you can put marriages in the bio section if the web site doesn't have a place to enter. If you have a question as to where, please write to the coordinator and they will help you to place it where it will most effective to you. Please accept our thanks and appreciation for the input that has been received this past year. If you have suggestions, comments, gripes :( , email us, especially if you find a broken link. Not all of the county sites are managed by one person. You may have one person doing the mailing list, another doing part of the GenConnect and a third doing the web page as is the case of Green Co, WI. We want you to get the most there is to find on our pages so if there is something you want us to see there, email us. 1. Honey Creek Church
    2. Robert L Webb
    3. Hi! I have some old minutes of a Baptist Association called the First Northwestern Association or Regular Baptists, which list a church called Honey Creek, which was evidently located about eight miles north of Monroe near Monticello (I think but am not sure of this). It was organized in about 1845 or 1846, and a minister named John Butler was one of the founding ministers. I have not been able to learn whether this church ever had a meeting house of their own or whether they met in schools or homes, because of being few and poor. The church was closed in 1880. Some of the names of members which I have learned about were John Butler (1817-1886), Ann McCammant Butler (1817-1909), J. Tinkner, Samuel V. Allison (1782-1856), H. C. Miller, William Long (1810-1889), Martha Miner Long, William Stillwell (1839-1924), Jesse Gist (1816-1890), Harriet Gist. If anyone can help me learn more about this church's history and/or its members, I would be glad to hear from you. We would like to know if there are others in the area that would be interested also. Tentatively, we could meet in different areas at libraries or other meeting spots. The meetings could be afternoon or evening or a combination of both. This would be for hands-on help discussing where to find your research answers, not only in Green/Rock but elsewhere as well. Other projects might be to update a cemetery, have a speaker, teach a Boy/Girl Scout group about genealogy. Let us know your comments and suggestions and of course, if you would be interested in joining us. Thank you.
