Wi Obituaries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Wi/GreenObits/10546 Surname: Flint, Simmons ------------------------- Albany, Green County Wisconsin Vindicator, Thursday, December 31, 1891 Flint-At her residence n this village on Friday, December 25, 1891, Mrs. Thomas Flint, aged 62 years, 3 months and 5 days. Mrs. Flint, whose maiden name was Simmons, was born in Berlin, NY on Sept. 20, 1829. When quite young she came west and was married to Thomas Flint in July of 1846. She was converted at the age of 15 and united with the Christian Church. On coming west she severed her connection with that church, and joined the Congregational church in this city in 1858, remaining a faithful member as long as the organization continued. She has always been a regular attendant at church, an active Christian, and foremost in all good work. She has ever been a good neighbor, helping the needy and afflicted and comforting the sorrowing. During her last sickness she was thoughtful of her attendants, and desirous of causing as little trouble as possible to those around her. Having a large number of grandchildren and loving each one, she had set aside a certain sum with which to buy them Christmas gifts, but the dawn of the day which we commemorate as the day on which Christ was born saw her released from pain, and her soul fled to the better land. Five of the six children who were born to her, with the husband, are left to mourn the loss of a perfect mother and faithful wife. May the thought that she has entered into the perfect rest comfort them in this dark hour of affliction. The funeral was held at the M.E. Church on Sunday, Rev. H.A. Rogers delivering an appropriate and comforting sermon. The large gathering of relatives and friends testified to the love and esteem sincerely felt for the departed.

    3. Posted on: Green Co. Wi Obituaries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Wi/GreenObits/10538 Surname: Hall, Hulburt ------------------------- Albany, Green County, Wisconsin Vindicator, June, 1889 The many friends of Katie Hall and her family were shocked to learn of her death, which occurred last week, and seldom has the death of any one so long elicited such genuine sorrow and regret as hers did in the community in which she lived. She was the daughter of Mr. J.D. Hall of Juda and was born Nov. 30, 1871. When she was quite young her parents removed to Missouri and spent most of her life there, but after her mother's death, she came to reside and made her home with her uncle, Mr. Erastus Hulbert, where she died, June 22, 1889, aged 17 years, 6 months. Katie was an ambitious girl. It was her aim in life to fit herself for teaching and she strove hard to prepare herself for it, but in so doing she overtaxed a constitution never too strong, and for the past three years has been in failing health, but not seriously ill until quite recently, when she was forced to give up her school and rapidly began to fade away until she died from hasty consumption. Her death was a Christian triumph. While at all times patient and thoughtful of others, during her last illness she was somewhat restless until she was told that her disease would be fatal and that she had not long to live; then she became quiet and resigned and with a firm trust and a bright hope she passed away peacefully on a Saturday morning. She leaves a father and a brother. On Sunday morning, June 23, 1889 a short service was held at her late home, the residence of Mr. Erastus Hulbert, and was conducted by the Rev. R.N. Martin of the Gap Church. It was touching to see assembled her scholars who loved her so dearly. They, with many friends, felt keenly the loss they had sustained. After a brief service, the remains, followed by a large number of friends, were taken to Juda where the funeral services were held at the Baptist Church, of which she was a member, the Rev. J. Andercock officiating. She was laid to rest in the cemetery at Juda.

When the news was told on the streets in Evansville Monday morning that Aaron Broughton had gone, a feeling of sadness stole over all, as the thought that a face familiar to all would be no more seen among us. After an illness of some months, he died Sunday morning and was buried Tuesday at the Center Cemetery in the town of Magnolia by the side of his two daughters. The funeral was very large, as Mr. Broughton had more than a local acquaintance. Many people from Evansville went to pay their last respects to a valued friend. The sermon was preached by the Rev. C.E. Varney of Monroe, pastor of the Universalist Church. Mr. Broughton was born at Hoosick, Rensselaer County, NY, January 18, 1822. He came to Wisconsin in 1843 and located on the farm where he has lived for 50 years. In 1848 he was married to Miss Linda Flint. Five children were born to them, two daughters and three sons. Mrs. Broughton and the three sons survive him. In 1850 Mr. Broughton went to California, where he remained prospecting for gold for two years. The subject of this sketch was in many ways a unique character, of stong personality. He was for two years state lecturer for the Grange, and his articles upon various topics were copied in leading agricultural papers, both south and west. He was an early promoter of the Grange movement here and has been for years, up until the time of his death, director of the Mercantile Association and by his wise counsel did much to shape the policy which has built up such a prosperous business. Although proud to call himself a farmer, he was a reading and thinking man and was always abreast of the times. He possessed a remarkable memory and when a fact was needed to settle some contested point, it was no uncommon thing for the disputants to leave it to Mr. Broughton to decide. He was a successful farmer and a careful business man. He was interested in every forward movement, social or political and always made himself felt in the community. He will be missed by his many friends and neighbors. His wife and sons have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.

During his sickness he was wonderfully patient, cheerful and hopeful and on the morning of his death he remarked that he was so happy, looking bright as though he really had a glimpse of the beyond. For the past 17 years he has given nearly his entire time to his widowed mother and sought to gratify her every wish. Thus has gone from our midst a good man, deeply mourned by his friends, enemies he had none. Brief services were held at his late residence on Monday afternoon by Rev.
