OK! NOW my interest is piqued! My interest in Green Co. is from my mother's side of the family. This line was (and some may still be in) Green Co. (Stover? Michael? Heltman? I'm still looking!) I saw the "Burt" request, but didn't think too much about it. Then saw the reply from [email protected] about Burts in, for heaven's sake!, Stockton, NY. A line of my FATHER'S family was in Stockton. My 3 gr grandfather, William Luce, married Lydia BURT in Massachusetts before moving to Stockton/Charlotte in 1835. I have not yet started searching the Burt line, but could there be a connection? Saw you have been researching the Burts from Green co. I have in my family a Violtaire D. Burt b. Sept 18, 1824 and married Ada B.Peckham in Stockton N.Y. on May 14. 1848. He died in Green Co., Albany, Wi. July 20 1899. They had 9 children: Alfarda,Edward, Fred , Edwin, Frank, Violet,Bessie, Charles and Ernest. Do they fit into your family tree.

Hi MStempel your name looks vaguely familiar to me, but thats not what its abt. I have Burts in my FH and they were in Green Co. Wisc and later on were in Minnesota. But your particular But names don't appear in my FH. But suspect that they could be the same fammily of Burts or relation. Stan Hills/Sanders-Cessna/Riddle-Brookshier Emily Turman Burt was married to Franklyn J. Burt in March of 1850 She is the daughter of Benjamin Turman III and his first wife Prudence Nash. According to p. 797 of Green County, Emily taught school in this area. Mr. Burt was described as a successful farmer. Their youngest child was Frank Henri Burt who died in 1941 in Albany Wisconsin. I would like any info on the Turmans or the Burts Emily Turman would be the half sister of my great-grandfather. thank you. mstempel
