    1. [WIGRANT] Grant Co. Mortality Schedules 1850-1870

    3. List, These Mortality Schedules are now posted at the USGenWeb Archives. You can find the links at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/wi/grant/grant.htm These Schedules were a supplement to the Population Schedules. They "should" include those individuals in the household who died from the preceding June through May 31 of the census year. i.e. The 1850 Mortality Schedule should list individuals who died between June 1, 1849 through May 31, 1850. As with any old records, they are only as good as the enumerator who recorded them. I have alphabetized these records to make review easier. There are still a few questionable name/spellings on the list. If you find one of your ancestors misspelled, please drop me a line and I will correct it. While transcribing these I did recognize many of the names from queries I have read and/or responded to in the past few years. Take a look if you had someone die in the years covered. The files are WIDE so be sure to scroll all the way to the right of the screen. Some interesting, and tragic causes of deaths. While not in Grant Co., the 1870 Crawford Co. Mortality Schedule included an unknown individual. His occupation was listed as "Burglar" and the cause of death "shot - homicide." Hopefully in the next few months I will be able to get 1880 done. The schedules were prepared for 1850 - 1900. Unfortunately, the 1890 and 1900 Mortality Schedules were destroyed. Enjoy, Dave Taft Arlington, TX
