Beverly, I'm sure you have already heard this, but Stitzer is in Liberty Township, so they may have been in Stitzer but are listed as being in Liberty Township on the census. My mother was born on a farm just outside of Stitzer (which isn't hard to do if you've ever seen Stitzer, it's SMALL), but her birth certificate says Liberty Township. That may be why they're listed in Liberty instead of Stitzer. I'm not sure if Liberty exists anymore or if it's simply even smaller than Stitzer nowadays. Michael, according to my road atlas Stitzer still exists. I know that my Gggrandfather Ludwig Julius was a farmer and that my Ggrandfather was also. In fact, my grandfather was also a farmer. So I hear what you are saying. Thanks for the information. It lists my GGgrandfather Ludwig and Gggrandmother Catherine Julius, my Ggreat-uncle Louis and Ggreat-Aunt Elizabeth Julius and family; and my ggreatgrandfather Henry and Ggreatgrandmother Anna and family as being in Liberty. My confusion comes because the family history that I have says that Gggrandfather Ludwig, Gggrandmother Catherine and their children lived for awhile in Liberty upon their arrival in America, but later moved to Stitzer. The family history shows Ggreat-uncle Louis marrying Ggreat-aunt Elizabeth in the Methodist Church in Stitzer. The information also contains some information on a possible link between the Juliuses and Henkels. The Henkels are listed as being from Beetown, Grant County, Wisconsin. If anyone has any information on the descendants of Henry and Elizabeth Henkel I would be very interested as it was the family of Katherine and Heinrich Henkel that helped compile the information for the family records in 1967. I know that this is confusing, as I am confused by it also. As far as I know, none of the family remains in Stitzer or Liberty. The descendants of Louis and Elizabeth Julius have settled in Eastern Wisconsin, the descendants of Henry and Anna are scattered between Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming. I have been able to contact several of both branches, but have not been able to make a connection with the sisters of Louis and Henry. Any information will be greatly appreciated.
