Speaking of Sophronia McGahn--her sister Mary Jane married Albert Ross Groshong. Does anyone have info on Albert, especially where he is buried?

Lesa, Good question. I had no idea where Albert was buried. I see the way your are....Ha!...you made me do some additional looking on my GGG Aunt Mary Jane. Mary Jane (McGhan) Groshong died in Stanford, Judith Basin, MT on 4 Aug 1898. Albert was still living at the time. Albert died 26 Jul 1909. His death is recorded in Grant Co. death records, Bk. 11, Pg. 270. Also recorded in the 28 Jul 1909 issue of the Fennimore Times per "Highlights of The Times Review, alias Fennimore Times, 1900-1909," compiled by Cheryl D. Lemanski. His death record indicates that he was divorced. More looking found that he married a third time after Mary Jane's death. Based on tonight's review, here is all I "now" know about Albert Ross Groshong: Albert Ross Groshong, b. ABT 1853, (son of Valentine Groshong and Eliza Ferry). He married (1) Augusta Bell Latham, 12-Oct-1886, in Montfort, Grant, WI, b. ABT 1855, (daughter of Lorenzo Latham and Orlintha ____) d. 26-Oct-1887, Grant Co., WI. He married (2) Mary Jane McGhan, 13-Mar-1889, in Grant Co., WI, b. 22-Jul-1849, Fennimore, Grant, WI, (daughter of Silas S. McGhan and Mary Ann Potter) d. 04-Aug-1898, Stanford, Judith Basin, MT. He married (3) Sarah Elizabeth Ferris, 12-May-1904, in Grant Co., WI, (daughter of John Ferris and Mary Stevens). Albert died 26-Jul-1909, Montfort, Grant, WI. An Albert Groshong is listed in the 1880 Highland, Iowa, WI census, age 26, born in Wisconsin living with a Jane Groshong. Albert is listed as Jane's stepson. Albert's marriage to Augusta Bell Latham on 12 Oct 1886 is recorded in Grant Co. marriage records, Bk. 10, Pg. 369. His marriage to Mary Jane McGhan on 13 Mar 1889 is recorded in Grant Co. marriages, Bk. 11, Pg. 62. His marriage to Sarah Elizabeth (Ferris) Dale is recorded in Grant Co., marriages, Bk. 13, Pg. 208. Albert's death recorded in Grant Co. death records, Bk. 11, Pg. 270. His death record indicates he was divorced. Groshong, she was previously married to a Mr. Dale. She married John M. Dale on 23 Dec 1886 in Iowa Co., WI, recorded in State Vol. 3, Pg. 58. Her third marriage to Matthew Peacock is recorded in Grant Co. marriage Bk. 18, Pg. 626. Children by Augusta Bell Latham: i Augusta Arabell Groshong, b. 26-Oct-1887, Wingville Twp., Grant, WI. There may have been other children of Albert, but this is the only one I located. I presume that Albert Groshong is buried in Grant Co. Quite possibly in the Fennimore Prairie cemetery. You would need to check in the Grant Co. Genealogical Society's cemetery records to be sure. His obituary in the Fennimore Times may also list where he is buried. Okay, where he was buried really was "your" question, but you provided many answers for me tonight. So glad you brought this up. Now I know a little more about Mr. Groshong. Hopefully this provided you a few new things as well.
