I believe it is most of the northern/northwestern Grant County Townships, just by process of elimination from those listed individually on the 1850 census. I've viewed the entire district and unfortunately as in some other such labeled districts, none of the individual townships, villages or post offices are listed on any page. These are the 1850 Grant Co. District 25 townships. - Fennimore - Harrison Twp - Hazel Green - Highland - Jamestown - Lima - Paris - Platteville - Smeltzer Grove - Wingville We were discussing a related issue recently on the WIGRANT Rootsweb mailing list. I wanted to see if we could find out which townships were included and in what order on any census which is labeled "unknown" or "various" or "district #." I don't believe we managed to find any consistent trend to the enumeration order of townships in different census (i.e., alphabetical, geographical), so it really helps to have a number of people to add input where they knew their ancestor's locations throughout a space of time. You can view a township map by clicking on the link "Dave Taft's Grant County Township Map" (thanks Dave!) from the following page, managed by Robin Kaspar (thanks Robin!): http://www.rootsweb.com/~wigenweb/ I don't have any known district 24 ancestors as yet, so I can't give you a point of reference. Hopefully you'll be able to narrow down your folk's location, and perhaps some other Grant County researchers will be able to lend assistance. Good Luck! Kin
