Hi all, I'm from Australia. Seeking info on my gggrandfather who settled in Bagley in 1857. His name was George Hausler and he had a son named John Henry. My dad is turning 80 in April and I would love to be able to find more out about his family. Eileen, Here is what I can provide regarding your Ralph and Troy families: 1870 Census, Platteville, Grant, WI, Household 16 William Troy, 35, Day Laborer, IRE Bridget, 30, At Home, IRE Mary Ann, 16, Domestic Servant, NY Hannah, 13, NY Sarah J., 10, NY William, 8, NY John, 7, NY Alice, 3, NY Edmund, 1, WI Here they seem to be in 1870. But, what is really strange is this: Memorable Happenings in The Grant Co. Herald, 1843-1869, Compiled by Cheryl D. Lemanski: Troy, William, formerly of Galena, IL, died Feb 1845 [on] Mississippi River, recorded in the 22 Feb 1845 issue of the Herald. How odd. How many William Troy's are there out there? Yours seems to have arrived about 1868/9 or so. But, here is one who died there in 1845. Almost inconceivable that this one is related. I don't see a positive match for William Ralph.
