You furnished an important piece of info; the name of Thomas Robinson's father. W. A. Robinson was listed as next of kin in 1898 Army records. W. A. Robinson (William A.) was shown as living in Clayton County Iowa (the Iowa county directly across the Mississippi river from Grant County, WI) in 1898. I'm tracking down 220 men who volunterred at La Crosse, WI for Army service in the Spanish-American War. I've "found" 210 and Thomas Clay Robinson has been a problem due to the common name, the fact he or his widow didn't apply for a veterans pension and he apparently didn't remain in the La Crosse area after he was mustered out in 1899. Thanks again for moving me one step closer to 'finding" Pvt. Robinson.
