    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/lEC.2ACE/1074.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi Mary, thanks for taking the time. I don't have a birth date for Ernest that is even an approximate one. A living aunt says that Ernest and Ina's brother, Lewis, were close friends. Lewis was born in 1871. Ernest and Ina had one child born 8 Sep 1886. We believe Ina died late 1897 early 1898. Can't find record of death or burial but believe she may be one of the unmarked headstones in Coleman-Whittaker Cemetery. Sometime in early 1890's, they either divorced or he just left. Can't find record of divorce. Lewis was in contact with Ernest but would never reveal where he was. Even on Lewis' dying bed, he would not reveal anything about Ernest to my grandmother (Ernest and Ina's daughter). Some believe he may have gone to Canada. A brick wall for many years and also trying to find him 'before' marriage is brick wall even after learning his parents names through the marriage certificate. Some info below: Sincerely, Mike -----------------------------\ (Ina Brown) In the 1880 Census she is living with her parents in Haney, Crawford County, Wisconsin. Ina's marriage is registered as No. 174, 00223 with this information: Groom: Ernest D. Stevens. Father: Hiram Stevens. Mother: Adelpha Stevens. Occupation: Farmer City: Haney. Birth Place: Wisconsin. Bride: Ina J. Brown. Father: Marvin L. Brown. Mother: Margrate [sic] A. Brown. Birth Place: It was Blank. Marriage Contract: 14 April 1884. Where Contracted: Boscobel, Grant County, Wisconsin. Race: White. Type Ceremony: Statute Form Mutual Agreement. Witnesss: W. M. Jones; Marvin L. Brown (W. M. could be a connection to Ina's grandmother). Pronouncing: L. J. Wooley. (Probably Lucius J. Wooley, a lawyer in Boscobel). Residence of Bride: Boscobel. Date of Certificate Or Affidavit: 14 April 1884. Date Registered: 20 May 1884. In a Civil War Pensions Claim affidavit dated 13 Jan 1898, Marvin L. Brown in a listing of his living children does not include Ina Janet.
