    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Jones Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/lEC.2ACE/426.1 Message Board Post: Jane, I’m not related but may be able to provide some information. Per the Grant Co. marriage records: Jones, Clarinda married Lint Zahniser, 9 Oct 1861. Recorded in Grant Co. marriages Book 3, Pg. 137. Clarinda is recorded as the daughter of James and Polly (Unknown) Jones. Lint the son of David and Ann (Unknown) Zahniser. Jones, George W. married Eliza B. Liscum, 14 Feb 1862. Recorded in Grant Co. marriages Book 3, Pg. 144. George is recorded as the son of James and Polly (Unknown) Jones. Eliza the daughter of H. (Horace?) S. and S. A. (Abigail?) (Unknown) Liscum. Per the Grant Co. Census: 1850 Census, Eastern District, Grant, WI, Pg. 112, 20 Aug 1850, Household 369 James Jones, 53, Miner, PA Polly, 25, IN Clarinda, 14, WI George, 10, WI Elnora, 6, WI Thomas J., 4, WI James?, 1, WI Based on the mothers names in the marriage records, I would suspect that Polly was likely a second? wife, not a daughter?? If Polly was his daughter, it would have been 11 years since the last living child was born. Seems odd to me, but I suppose she could have been James daughter. Keep in mind that even Clarinda may have listed the "mother" of the household at the time of her marriage. She may have never known her real mother. Just speculation...I'll leave the rest to you. I can’t seem to find a likely match for James or children in the 1860 or 1870 Grant Co. census. Had they moved on by then? Regards, Dave Taft Arlington, TX
