It appear from the 1870 Census that Nathaniel and Catherine were probably married in Michigan before 1853 since they have two 17 year old children and all of the older children were born in Michigan. Nathaniel lists Vermont as birthplace and Catharine lists New York. No sign of Quincy's marriage in Grant Co. Grant Co. Death records: Nathaniel J. Farrand, age 94, died 30 Nov 1926, husband of Catherine Steel. Nathaniel recorded as the son of Ora and Sarah (Wallace) Farrand. Recorded in death Book 19, Pg. 488. Farrand, Hayse E., age 29, died 5 Nov 1906, husband of Minnie (Unknown). Hayse recorded as the son of N. J. and C. J. (Unknown) Farrand. Recorded in Book 5, Pg. 197. Pierce, Orilla Jane, age 50, died 3 Jun 1904, wife of Harrison Pierce. Orilla Jane is recorded as the daughter of N. J. and Kathrine (Unknown) Farrand. Recorded in Book 5, Pg. 63. Pierce, Orilla Jane, age 51, died 3 Jun 1904, wife of H. Pierce. Orilla Jane is recorded as the daughter of N. J. and Kate (Steele) Farrand. Recorded in Book 5, Pg. 31. (Apparently her death was recorded twice for some reason.)
