I randomly looked at a few pages in the 1870 Grant Co. census. About half were dated in Jun and about half were in July with a few in August. While the census taker was supposed to ignore deaths between 1 Jun and the date he/she took the census, I don't think they always did so. So if this person is your gr-gr grandfather, he may of died in Jun of 1869 or Jun of 1870.
