The last name is sometimes spelled AYERS or AYRES. Jeptha moved to Grant Co. from Lewis Co., Missouri about 1845. After the Civil War, in 1866, both families moved to Riley Co., Kansas, and some of their children (Jeptha's son James Franklin AYARS, for one) moved to Davis (now Geary) Co., Kansas, and then to Lincoln Co., Oklahoma in the early 1890's.
