Bev, As far as I know, no Grant County death records are listed online, other than Ancestry.com, WI Deaths 1820-1907 (membership fee; minimal info--& seem to be from a state index, in which mainly only later deaths show up?). There are some cemeteries which have been transcribed by the WSGS. They will send copies for small fee, and the cems are listed on their site: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wsgs/index.htm I should have given you the full path to the WIGenWeb archive I posted earlier. On the site for which Robin Kaspar has devoted generous volunteer time and efforts to help us have an online reference and repository; the "Genealogy Links" page on the Grant County USGenWeb site: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wigrant/links.htm View carefully, as you scroll down and find all kinds of goodies. Some you have to dig/click further for, than others. Just short of mid page is where the links to the births to 1891 are found. Got to go prepare for relative's visit to our town. Good Hunting! Di and Bev, >From what I can tell, "most" of the records at the State are the same as those in the County. They are in different formats, however. I've never gotten a real good answer to why. Either the County sent copies to the state, or the County courthouse filled out the states record books. There are some differences, but I would think they are 90%+ identical. The County records are available at the courthouse in Lancaster. The State records are available from the Wisconsin Bureau of Health Statistics in Madison, WI. The State pre-1907 index is available by subscription on Ancestry.Com. It's also available on microfiche from the LDS and some libraries. The references from the State index will provide you the Volume Number for the State's records. These are also available on microfilm through the LDS. The Grant Co. Genealogical Society cemetery records are great. And for $3 per surname, for every burial in the county for that surname, are a bargain. Dave Taft
