This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Weins Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/lEC.2ACE/1065.1.1 Message Board Post: The name I am looking for is Peter Weins. The surname is pronounced Wines. So, it could be spelled: Wiens, Wines, Wynes. I have seen it spelled many ways. Thank you for answering my question so quickly. At least through the 1880 Grant County, Wisconsin census he was living with his mother and step-father, Gertrude and John Flesch, Junior in the Hurricane Township, before his 1885 marriage to Margaret Heinrichs. Although, his surname was badly spelled in 1880 census. The 1895 plat book would be the only one that might list Peter Weins on his own property in Grant County.
