No, I am not 100% certain this family lived in Hazel Green proper, I know they were in southwest Wisconsin, most likely Grant County. I'm told by older relatives who remember family stories that Hazel Green was the town they believe the Stephens lived, and I am trying to confirm. Another name is Joseph (middle initial E. or B.) Stephens, born 12/21/1818 in Cornwall, died 9/6/1864 in a mining accident at the Cliff Mine in Eagle River, Michigan. This man is related (maybe Joseph is James, mixed up in records over the years!) since he ended up in Michigan via Wisconsin too. When did mining activity start to wane in southwestern Wisconsin?
