Hi Mary, Rapid City is in Western South Dakota located at the foot of the Black Hills. I have several friends/classmates who have the last name of Knapp. My mother's father, Adolph Julius came here from Nebraska, where he and my Grandmother lived after living in Wisconsin. He is a grandson of Ludwig Carl Julius and was born in Stitzer, Grant County, Wisconsin. Don't know if this helps any. My father's mother came here from Watertown, Jefferson/Dodge Wisconsin. However he had several nephews who settled in Iowa.
