    1. [WIGRANT] Frank Groves story
    2. Thank you Muscoda people! Frank Groves' store has stirred many memories. Samuel (1827-1900) and Mary Blackledge Groves brought their family to Wisconsin from Jefferson Co., Ohio near the end of the 1850's. Samuel was the grandson of a Rev. War soldier and his father has served in the War of 1812. Sam and Mary had seven children and then Mary died of blood poisoning in 1878. Samuel married twice more, to Mary Devoe, a marriage that ended in divorce, and to Harriet (Dora) Pettygrove. Sam had served in the 20th Wisconsin Infantry during the Civil War and was about 57 when he married 26 year old Dora in 1884. Dora was only two years older than Sam's youngest son, Samuel Jr. A year later, Sam and Dora had a son, Frank D. Frank D. was born 23 Sept 1885 in Grant Co. He married twice, 1st to Lulu Wood (1886-1922) and 2nd (in 1923 at Richland Co.) to Nellie Marie Pickard (?-1951). I don't think there were any children to the first marriage, but Frank and Nellie had a daughter Maurine in 1925. I found a Maurine D. Fralick, (b. 2 Sept 1925, died 10 Jul 2000, last residence Wilton, Muscatine, IA), on the Social Security Index that I think might be her. Frank died 17 Nov 1970 in Richland Co according to Mr. Thompson's index of Richland Co. deaths. I have sent for cemetery records and will do an update of this family when I get them. Thank you again Serena in Michigan
