Hello Fellow Grant Co. Researcher, I no longer have the digests which had this thread, but I do recall seeing a search for James? STEPHENS in the 1860? census for Hazel Green. I don't know if this is connected or will help the researcher at all, but found on the link following, in an 1868 plat map of Paris Township with a large southeastern portion of Potosi Twp, see J. STEVENS listed in Potosi. Hope this may help you find your kin in census. http://genealogy.rootsweb.com/~amerikin/wi/index.html#grant Potosi did have quite a lot of miners and has a wonderful Historical Society site, linked from Robin H. Kaspar's Grant County WIGenWeb site, on the Genealogy Links page, under Grant Co. Links. http://www.rootsweb.com/~wigrant/ I've no further info on an index of the plat map, which must exist(ed) somewhere, since so many plots are marked only with reference numbers or initials. Likely the GCGS would have info on such an index if one survives. http://www.rootsweb.com/~wigrant/gcgensoc.htm Many Successful Returns--findings!
