Hi Larry and List, I had an inquiry from Larry Pine regarding Grant Co. Plat maps based on some of the list discussion this week. I thought it would be best to send my reply to the list as well since it is probably of interest to many. There are early Plat maps for Grant Co., WI, but I don't have access to any of them. Nor are they listed with the LDS. I'm sure copies are found at the Wisconsin Historical Society in Madison as well as the Karrmann library in Platteville. >From what I understand there are at least 3 pre-1900 Plat Maps for the county done in the 1860's, 1877, and 1895. The Karrmann Library's catalog indicates that they have the 1877 and 1895 maps. They may have others that are not in their on-line catalog. Some time ago the President of the Grant Co. Genealogical Society told me they were working on a long-term project of indexing and then re-printing these plat maps. But, I suspect this is at least 4-5 years out. You may want to contact the Karrmann library and see if they can help you out.
