Platteville, Wis., Dec. 15.--[Special.]--After seven days of preliminary examination Jacob HOOSIER, Jr., and Butler HOOSIER were bound over to the circuit court under $750 bonds each this morning. The testimony against them in the charge of attempting to poison the family of Jacob HOOSIER, Sr., has all been circumstantial. Twelve witnesses were heard for the state. ============================= Centralia Enterprise and Tribune (Centralia, Wisconsin) > 1898 > March > 5 HOOSIER POISONING CASE. Jury is Secured to Try the Defendants at Lancaster. Lancaster, Wis., March 1.--[Special.]--The HOOSIER poisoning case is on trial in the circuit court here. The case is the state of Wisconsin against Jacob HOOSIER, Jr., and Butler HOOSIER, for the alleged attempted poisoning of five or six members of the family of Jacob HOOSIER, Sr. A jury was secured this morning and the attorneys have made the opening arguments =========================== Centralia Enterprise and Tribune (Centralia, Wisconsin) > 1898 > March > 12 New Testimony is Introduced in the Trial at Lancaster. Lancaster, Wis., March 8.--The HOOSIER poisoning case was resumed yesterday. It was shown by new testimony that Jacob HOOSIER, Jr., and Butler HOOSIER had access to strychnine and knew of its existence at the home of "Gen." HOOSIER. City Marshal John SPARK of Platteville testified that he had remonstrated with Jacob HOOSIER for getting drunk and spending his money in paying fines, and that HOOSIER had replied, it is alleged, that he could get plenty more money by fixing up a dose for the old man.
