It's transcribed at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wigrant/Glasson_James.htm There's also a general index to the book (because there's lots of information besides the biographies) at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wigrant/bookindex.htm I don't see any GLASSONs besides those listed in James' biography. On p. 391 it states that Purcell and Harden are working a mine in the Wiota District. I don't see any other references to surnames that you list here, but you might want to take a look and let me know if you see anything else. I'm sorry I don't have any more helpful information. My Uncle's is 76 years old and his parents divorced when he was young and he does not know much of his Glasson family line and he is anxious to learn more. He only had the name of his father Richard Louis Glasson and his Grandfather and his wfe, Grant and Catherine Purcell Glasson. I found that Grant Glasson was Richard Grant Glasson and he married Catherine on Jan 24, 1892 in Shullsburg, Wisconsin. I cannot fine Richard Grant or his parents in the 1850 and 1860 census. I found Richard Grant with his parents Richard and Elizabeth Glasson living in Benson, Wisconsin in the 1870 census (1870 Census Index lists the family as Glazzen) and Hazel Green ,Wisconsin in the1880 census. In the 1880 Census it lists Grant as being born in Illinois, this would have been about 1863. Census records also indicate that his parents Richard and Elizabeth were born in England. If the ages on the 1880 census records are correct, Richard Grant was born abt 1863 and his father Richard abt 1837. I found a John Glasson living in Vinegar Hill in the 1850 census that has a son named Richard that is 14yrs old and this could be Richard Grants father, the ages match. I would appreciate any ideas on how I can try to connect the Glasson family of Vinegar Hill to the Glassons in Wisconsion. If you have any information on this family that they would like to share please contact me. Thank you to all and I wish you all a Happy New Year. Gerald Finney

Hello, Duane. I'm a professional researcher, and my maternal lines resided in Grant & Green counties before 1900. I post hundreds of pieces of information every year that have nothing at all to do with my own research. Today's posts at WIGRANT are examples. My paper, the "Ledger" is read, I hope, by subscribers in the 2-3 county area of SW WI. I print the first name of the researcher, their e-mail address, and who they are looking for, in hopes a reader could make contact. I would like to include who you are looking for but was wondering about your address. I thought maybe several researchers were using the same gateway addy to keep their address from being printed and spammers getting their addy. Ron, he is not listed under John HAMILTON in Dubuque County in 1885. Can you provide approximate birth year and place; maybe I can find him in a nearby county or under a spelling variant.
