Jan, Certainly! There is no Allenswrath listed in the index on p. 395. P. 406 - "Capt. Allenwrath, the discover of the Allenwrath lead, came to the mines in 1826, and soon after made his fortunate discovery." P. 633 - William Ault is listed among the volunteers for the 31st Infantry, Co. C from the Town of Wyalusing. P. 647 - A discussion on the growth of Lancaster. The year 1851: "As soon as the weather would admit, the usual spring emigration to California commenced. T. M. Barber, J. B. Callis, Robert Allenworth and Wells Huston, with a number of others from the surrounding country, started on the six months' trip that was to land them in the region of the glittering phantom." Have been unable to locate death records for David. I know they are at rest in the cemetery near the athletic field of the University in Platteville. They both passed away in the 1800's. David was born possibly 1802 in England. Sarah was born in England in abt. 1806. Does anyone have information on this family? Thank you.

Were Diogenes alive, he would be able to end his search at a certain gasoline filling station at Beetown, Wis., with the light from his lantern shining in the fact [sic] of Erskine L. Auel. The honesty of Mr. Auel was demonstrated in connection with a purchase of gasoline made by Weldell V. PHILLIPS, of Milwaukee, to whom goes the credit for finding what Diogenes long ago sought. Mr. Phillips ordered 10 gallons of gasoline. After the fuel had been put in his car he paid for 10 gallons of gasoline and resumed his journey. Sometime later, he received a letter postmarked, Beetown. It was from the filling station proprietor. In it was 59 cents in stamps, and a note explaining this was a refund on the gasoline purchased by Mr. Phillips. "I charged you for 10 gallons," the note siad, "but you only got seven, which I discovered after you had gone." Investigation by the M ilwaukee man revealed that the gasoline dealer, who knew only that his customer was from Milwaukee and drove a certain make and color of car, had spent several dollars in telephone calls and otherwise in learning his name and address in order to refund the 59 cents. Mr. Auel seems to be not only an honest man but a man naturally endowed with some of the qualifications that go to make a good detective.

PERRIN, 87, of Beetown, for many years a colorful figure in Wisconsin horse racing circles. He died Sunday. Perrin combined training race horses with farming, and for half a century maintained a half-mile track on his Beetown township farm. He and his two sons broke and trained driving horses as well as racers. The three were familiar figures for years at the fairs of southwestern Wisconsin. His widow and sons survive.

She married Willard Udelhoven on Feb. 24, 1934. Mr. Udelhoven died on July 6, 1980. She married Phillip Kilcoyne on July 2, 1960; he died on April 1, 1993. Dolly was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Platteville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5274. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, fishing, playing cards and bingo.
