I just found out that Eliza Peters Tredinick passed away in Gillette, Wyoming and I have her obituary from the Campbell County Library - thanks to an on-line search. I plan to go to Gillette this weekend and will try to find out if Eliza is actually buried in Gillette, WY and hopefully will find her husband, John, there as well. Their daughter, Clara, is/was a cousin to my Aunt Nellie Brown Ashton and I am interested in this line. Thanks again for all the information.

    3. My Blanchard Family was from Plymouth Co., Iowa. My gg-grandmother Katherine/Catherine Sarah Fuller married in Iowa Iowa to William Blanchard, a bookkeeper, who later enlisted for service as a soldier in the Union army during the Civil War and in that service lost an arm. He later served for some time as recorder of Delaware county, IA and in that county died. To him and his wife two children were born, Mattie and Lillian, the later of whom died when eleven years of age. Mattie Blanchard married Marshall Mann and to that union six children were born, Lillian, William, Elmer, Albert, Pearly and Mamie (deceased). After William passed away. Catherine/Katherine (found her under both spellings) Blanchard married Isaac Newton Jeffers and had Newton Jeffers. Newton married Nettie FAULL and their daughter Lenore is my grandmother. I have not traced William before IA. The only line (which I know of) from these names which are from Grant Co., Faull. 3. WI and IA are available on the BLM site. Use the pull-down menu for the state to view what they have. They are constantly adding data, so check back every few months. Scanned images are available for WI, but I don't know about IA. Even if the image isn't loaded, the legal description of the land, acreage, date purchased, etc. is. Dave

It was down for months due to a court order because of vulnerabilities to hacking or something of Indian Trust records. The web site it: http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/ It's a great place to locate when/where your ancestors may have purchased land from the Government. Many, but not all states are indexed and have scanned images available. Note: This site/index does not include private land sales. Be sure and review the "Search Tip" if you have names with troublesome spellings and the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) for all of the basics. You can view and print copies of many of the original patents. They offer "certified copies," but they are really no different than what you can print on-line. But, they are embossed and printed on your choice of paper. The site has a whole new look. Guess they had time to re-design it while they were out of order. 3. Hi all - Haven't written anything requesting information about my own family yet, so here goes: My great-great-grandmother was Nancy Troxel. She was the daughter of John and Rebecca (Shepherd?) Troxel, the eldest of at least six kids. Not sure about the rest of her family (heard they were traveling west into Iowa and something happened... everyone but her, a sister and a brother lived ... would love to know). Anyway, the family showed up in Richland County in 1870 and that's it. Seems like she lived much of the rest of her life in/near Eagle Township of Richland County, though I'm not sure how much was spent there or in possibly Grant County. I've looked for a death certificate for her in Richland County, to no avail; as her tombstone at the Basswood Cemetery in Eagle Township indicates she died in 1947. She first married Jesse Hardy, then Samuel Turnmire. Seems like she had one daughter with Samuel, the other five children (that I know of) with Jesse. Jesse and Nancy's son Oscar (who married Lora Kite) raised a family in Grant County, but he was apparently born in E! agle Township, Richland County. I would appreciate more information on the Troxel family, as well as a death date for Nancy. If anyone regularly goes to Lancaster to look up information would check to see if her death certificate is in Grant County, I'd appreciate it very much. I also have another ancestor who lived in Grant County for a spell. Samuel Groves, whose first wife died and who divorced his second wife, married a woman named Harriet Pettigrove in 1884. This was found from his Civil War record information. I am curious, when after his own children were grown, why he married a woman who was several years younger than himself and then had another child (he was 58 when his last son was born in 1885, which was about 25 years after his seventh child from his first marriage). After Samuel died in 1900, I have no idea whatever happened to his third wife, Harriet, and son Frank (with the exception that his wife died in 1916, because she was dropped as a pensioner). So what happened to Frank Harris? Anybody? Where is the cemetery in Avoca? Samuel is buried there (note his first wife was buried in Richland County); I wonder if Harriet and Frank are too. Please contact me if we're related, too! ------------------------------------------------
