I am in dire need to get in touch with with any of the descendants of my great-grandparents. Jabez and Lydia (TAYLOR) WILSEY, THey were both born in Wyoming Co., PA. He in 1826, she in 1830. They moved to Grant Co about 1853 where their third child was born in January and died in Sept. He is buried in Dodge Cemetery alongside his granmother Elizabeth (Van TUYL) TAYLOR and his uncle Alexander TAYLOR. Jabez and Lydia had 8 children. They were: 1. Harriet B. 4 Aug 1848, in Wyoming Co., PA She married Ambrose MURRAY 12 Jan 1868 in Glen Haven. They later divorced and she moved to Colorado where she remarried to David HOPKIRK . She and Ambrose had 4 children all of whom were born in Grant Co. Jabes B. 1869; Ambrose B. 1872: Alice B. 1875: and Elizabeth B 1879. Harriet had at least two more chiildren in Colorado, David and Carrie HOPKIRK 2. Perry B. 4 Jan 1850 in Wyoming Co., PA. Never married. Died 17 Dec. 1921 at the Olds Soldiers Home in Kapispell, MT. 3. Jabez B. 13 Jan 1853,in Glen Haven Died 20 Sept 1853 all in Grant Co. 4. John H. B 1855, in Glen Haven, never married. Died Oct 1921 in Home Park, MT, buried in the Harvey plot in the City Cemetery in Guttenburg, IA 5. Melvina b 1857in Glen Haven , Mar to Luther ASCOUGH (?) in Glen Haven 6. Alice B.3 May, 1858 in Glen Haven, Mar 28 Dec 1873 in Elkader, IA. Lived in Guttenburg until 1918, then moved to MT and then on to OR, where she died 29 Aug, 1949. This is my grandmother 7. Byron B 1862 in Glen Haven 8. James B 1867 in Glen Haven. I would like to find some descendant of any of these children in hopes of finding out where exactly and when Jabez and Lydia died and are buried. I have a tin-type of Lydia TAYLOR WILSEY scratched on the back along with 1830-1880. And my mother remembered seeing Jabez at here older sister's funeral in Jan 1887 in Guttenburg. They did own a 7 plot cemetery lot at the Scott Cemetery in Glen Haven, but there is no record of anyone being buried there. Also there are two vacant plots in the HARVEY plot in the City Cemetery in Guttenburg, but again no record of any burials. Lydia's siblings, Alice B 1832, Mar. Hiram HUDSON in 1855: Melvina B 1837 Mar Byron HUDSON 13 Sep 1853. Alexander B 1835, D 1861 mar. Marie A. Lorenzo B 1843, D. Sep 1864 in Andersonville Prison during the Civil War, and Oscar died as a child. If anyone has any information of either of these families I would be so grateful to hear from them. I have all of Charles HARVEY and Alice's children and will be glad to share if anyone is interested in the entire family. Hopefully, Earlene Hutsell OK1WE1@aol.com
Hello.....Im writing again to send you info I received on a DVORAK family not related to mine. I thought I'd send this along to the list so if anyone can jog their memory, maybe we can come up with matches for this family. Thanks for anybody who can help out here....again this is not my family.. Just helping out a friend My great, great grandmother's name was Rose/Rosa Dvorak. She was born July 30, 1842 in Bohemia. She married a John Faytle (Fajtl) who was from Veselie, Bohemia, so I'm wondering if her family wasn't from that area too. Rosa had 4 brothers & sisters (that I know of, but this cousin of mine who supplied a lot of the information I have thinks there were more siblings that didn't come to the United States). Anyway, their names & dates are: Mary Dvorak born December 08, 1841; John Dvorak born Abt. May 1845; Anna born December 22, 1849 & Wenzel born May 25, 1852. To be honest with you, until a few weeks ago I didn't realize my Rosa had a brother named Wenzel. This cousin of mine sent the obituary for Wenzel (1906) & it listed my great grandmother as being one of Wenzel's sisters. I KNOW it is my great grandmother because the name Faytle is NOT common at all & it says she lived in Wahpeton, ND (where they lived in 1906). This obituary is what this cousin used to track down my side of the family. This cousin sent information on Wenzel: he married Mary Zajicck June 20, 1875. Together they had 6 daughters: Emma 3-27-1876; Mary 1878; Della 1880; Jessie 4-4-1883; Mary 2-16-1886 & Anna Helen 1-14-1890. Yes, there are 2 Mary's listed... they are NOT the same person. the first Mary died in 1881, so they named another child Mary. Okay, now for Wenzel & his sibling's parents: Jan (John) Dvorak Pavlovsky (5-16-1810) married Anna Peterka (5-5-1811) on February 7, 1832. Jan was from Ripec 31 (which my cousin says is a township & a house number) and Anna was from Borkovice 29. Jan's parents were: Simon Pavlovsky Dvorak (10-14-1782 from Ripec 31) & Ludmila Straka (2-27-1779 Ripec 11). They were married May 10, 1802. Anna Peterka's parents were: Tomas Peterka (10-17-1772 Borkovice 29) & Marie Anna Kolay (from Soin). Marie Anna Kolay's dad's name was Martin Kolay. Her dad's name was unknown. Tomas Peterka's parents were: Martin Peterka & Eva Hruska (12-14-1743 from Borkovice). Ludmila Straka's parents were: Matous Straka Novak & Marie Anna Straka (1-29-1740 from Ripec). Simon Pavlovsky's parents were: Josef Pavlovsky (5-18-1744 from Borkovrce) & Ludmila Straka (not the same one as Jan's mother. No birth date listed, but death date was 11-15-1805 Ripcc 31). They were married 2-9-1768. As far as my Dvorak family, they lived in Wahpeton, ND. As far as I can tell, they came to America sometime around 1882. It sounds as if Wenzel came in 1870 to Lancaster, WI. The obituary says he lived in Lancaster for 5 years, then moved to Muscoda & lived there until his death in 1906. That is all the information I have at the present time. Does anything sound familar to you? End of Message from Cammie Jordan THANKS
I am trying to reach the State's website, it they have on. I posted on WiGRANT-L that my mother's side of the family was having a JULIUS family reunion on July 27th in the park at Spearfish, South Dakota. I had a call today from a family in Wisconsin and they had gotten the information from a family member in Iowa. So I thought that there might be some relatives that don't live in Grant County and may have missed the posting I did there. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bev (oldcherub) Miller in Rapid City, SD

John, The only source for post-1907 vital records in Wisconsin would be through the County or State. Here is a link with information and addresses: http://vitalrec.com/wi.html The cost for death records is $7.00. Your request can be sent to the county or the state, but the records should be the same. The County will probably be the quickest. You might also try requesting the cemetery records for Grant Co. from the Grant Co. Genealogical Society. They will send you all they have in the county for $3 per surname plus a self addressed stamped envelope (SASE). Address your request to: Grant Co. Genealogical Society C/O Helen Jentz 955 Williams St. Platteville, WI 53818 Dave Taft

I'm sending this to Judy and the list. Jamestown, Grant Co. was both a Post Office/Village as was as a Township. Another town/village in Jamestown Twp. was Fair Play. According to the 1881 Grant Co. history, in 1850 people began building between Section 1 and 10 in Jamestown Township and it was called South Jamestown or "Puckerville." Apparently Jamestown village was also known as Centerville at one time prior to 1850. Hope this helps you out. Shannon, Grant Co., WI was formed from Iowa Co., WI in 1837. And yes, Mount Ida Township is in Grant Co., WI. The Grant Co. GenWeb page is a good starting point for the county: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wigrant/ Is William Burden an ancestor of your's? Do you know if he married in Grant Co. He marriage record may provide his parents names. Birth records for Grant Co. didn't begin until 1876, and were very slim until the 1900's. IT is with sad heart that I must inform you that my DVORAK family is not on this list.
