I don't know if there is a special list or not........but would recommend taking the thing to a professional before trying anything. And, the advice about scanning before doing anything is also a good piece of advice. You might check with Cindy's List for possible help also. Sorry to be late with this.....was gone the weekend. Eliza, 2nd wife of Edwin Ward died after childbirth in Oct 1876 and Edwin married Elizabeth Agnes, the younger sister, Dec 1876.
The Edward WALSH I have was born in 1840 in IL. So he wouldn't be old enough to marry in 1853! Maybe he married in Dubuque,Iowa because that's where he died at, or maybe Illinois as Margaret is from IL according to the 1870 Census. Regarding the following marriage: WALSH, EDWARD F. TRAINOR, MARY E. 29 Nov 1876 Grant WI This Edward is recorded as the son of Matthew and Mary (Unknown) Walsh. The only marriages I found listing Nicholas and Mary Walsh as parents are: John Walsh m. Kattie Tormey, 21 Sep 1874 Johnanna Walsh m. Josiah Stephens, 7 Oct 1886 Dave Taft
Eileen, Per the Grant Co. marriage records: Martin Longhenry married Louisa Katharina Wolf, 6 Dec 1898. The marriage is recorded twice in the courthouse; Book 12, Pg. 341 and Book 12, Pg. 345. One has Louisa's middle name, the other does not. Martin is recorded as the son of Gerhard and Maria (Wilkens/Wilkins) Longhenry. Louisa the daughter of Friedrich Heinrich and Dorothea Wilh[elmina?] (Schroeder) Wolf. Per the Grant Co. death records: Louise K. Longhenry, nee Wolf, age 32, married to M. Longhenry, died 1 Sep 1900. Recorded in Book 4, Pg. 165. Louise is recorded as the daughter of Fred and Unknown Wolf. Witnesses and other details about both Martin and Louise would be available in the actual records. These can be requested from the Grant Co. Courthouse in Lancaster. Dave Taft

Henry McLimans, b. 30-Apr-1835, West Salem Twp., Mercer, PA, (son of John Hugh McLimans and Nancy Mitchell). He married (1) Rachel S. Kaightlinger, 05-Sep-1858, in Fennimore, Grant, WI, b. 2-Jul-1837, Plum Twp., Venango, PA, (daughter of James Kaightlinger and Sarah E. Luce). He married (2) Margaret Howard, 14-Mar-1866, in Grant Co., WI, b. 1832, Mercer Co., PA, (daughter of John Howard and Margaret _____) d. 9-May-1889, Fennimore, Grant, WI, buried: Fennimore Prairie Cemetery. Henry died 06-Apr-1919, Boulder, Boulder, CO, buried: 9-Apr-1919, Valmont, CO. Henry purchased 80 acres of land in Liberty Twp., Grant, WI on 1 Jun 1858. Henry was living in Liberty Twp., Grant, WI in the 1860 census. Civil War Volunteer, Private, Co. C, 20th Infantry, enlisted 10 Aug 1862, discharged 14 Jul 1865 at Galveston, TX. Civi! l War pension file lists birth date at 5 May 1835. His death certificate lists an age of 83Y, 11M, 6D which would support a 30 Apr 1835 birthdate. Other unsubstantiated family records list his birth as 30 Apr 1835. Henry's pension file states that after the war he lived in Iowa 15 yrs, Nebraska 4 yrs, Wisconsin 20 yrs, California 3 years, then Colorado. In the 1870 Census, Henry McLyman and Margaret are living in Marcy Twp., Boone, IA, Pg. 135 with Sylvester and Nancy and Margaret's children Clard and Scott Hough. In the 1880 Census lists Henry and Margaret are living in Ogden, Boone, IA, Pg. 72A with son Sylvester and step-son Scott Hough. In 1880 Henry is listed as a Saloon Keeper, son Sylvester's occupation is listed as "Drives Team," and Scott as working in a Blacksmith Shop. The 1880 History of Boone Co., IA, Pg. 656 includes the following biography, "McLimans, Henry, saloon-keeper, Ogden; was born in Mercer county, Pennsylvania, in 1835, and in 1870 came to thi! s State, locating in Beaver township, this county; he was raised on a farm and has been in Ogden for four years; he has been married twice, first, to Miss Rachael Kitling of Wisconsin; she died, leaving two children: Sylvester and Nancy; he married again, Mrs. Margaret Houghton, a native of Pennsylvania; Mr. McLimans keeps a good stock in his line and is quite successful." Henry and Margaret are also found in the 1885 state census of Iowa living in Ogden, Yell Twp., Boone, IA. In 1885 their household included Margaret's mother Margaret Howard. The 22 Aug 1906 issue of The Fennimore Times states, "Henry McLimans and wife have left California and are now at Boulder, CO." In 1905 Henry's pension file states that he was living in Oakdale, Stainislaus Co., CA, near Modesto, CA. Henry's death certificate states that he was buried in Valmont? Colorado. Rachel: Rachel's birth and mother's maiden name per Ancestry.Com record by Kenneth Carpenter (kenng@freewwweb.com) and unkn! own submitter (scottlewis@alumni.uop.edu). Rachel's middle initial may have been "L." Family rumor says that Henry went to war and returned to find his wife with child and refused to have anything to with her thereafter. Henry and Rachel divorced 12 Mar 1866 in Grant Co., WI. By decree of the court, Henry was given "the care, custody and education of the children." The divorce decree states that Rachel McLimans "has been guilty of the several acts of adultery therein charged." Margaret: Married first to William Hough, recorded in Grant Co., WI marriage records, Bk. A, Pg. 270. Death recorded in Grant Co., WI deaths Vol. 2, Pg. 152. Alvira: Marriage registration found in Grant Co., Vol. 11, Pg. 112. Alvira's father listed as Thomas Simmons per Henry's Pension File. Children by Rachel S. Kaightlinger: i James Sylvester McLimans, b. 3-Jul-1860, Liberty Twp., Grant, WI. Listed as James S. in the 1860 Grant Co., WI census, Sylvester in the 1880 Iowa census as well as Henry's pension file application. 2. ii Nancy b. 1-Jun-1862. Second Generation 2. Nancy McLimans, b. 1-Jun-1862, Grant Co., WI. She married James Philamalee, 30-Mar-1879, in Blue River, Waterstown Twp., Grant, WI, (son of William Philamalee and Nancy ____). Source for Marriage: Grant Co., WI Marriages, Book 9, Pg. 52. The marriage record for Nancy states that she is the daughter of Henry and Margaret (Unknown) McClimans, however, Henry's pension application states that he only had two children and they were both by his first wife, Rachel Kaightlinger. Nancy may have stated Margaret since that was her father's wife at the time. Per Memorable Happenings in the Grant Co. Herald Newspaper, 1870-1879, compiled by Cheryl D. Lemanski, James marriage is recorded in the 3 Apr 1879 issue of the Herald. It is interesting that Nancy married in Grant Co., WI since her father remained in Boone Co., IA from 1870-85. She likely met James while visiting family in WI. Birthdate of 1 Jun 1862 per Henry's Civil War pension file. In an Apr 1898 document Henry gives! 1 Jun 1862 as her birthdate; in Mar 1915 he states __ Jun 1862. Per Bob Howe (Bhowegen47@aol.com), Kansas City MO, Jan 2002, Nancy's obituary states that she was born on 10 Jul 1862. James: The Grant Co., WI marriage records also include the marriage of a James Philamalee to Josephine (Harrison) Brown on 15 Feb 1874. This James is also recorded as the son of William and Nancy (Unknown) Philamalee. Children: i Henry Harvey Philamalee, b. 4-Dec-1883, Boscobel, Grant, WI. There is indeed a list for old photos! Always digging for my roots, Kathie Harrison Lancaster Co. Also, I took my scrap book to a color copy machine at a reputable copy center, copied both vintage black and white and color full scrap book pages on the color copier. The duplication quality is superb and can be used for photo restoration programs, which I have done myself with my program with complete success. A color copy is less expensive. I have then taken the page, scanned it into my program, resized an individual photo image, did some restoration, and have a better than average duplication of the selected photo. My individual photos just lifted off the page otherwise, for further information I would follow David Taft's instruction. Marilyn Packel

I took mine to a Kodak picture maker machine and made duplicates. It can get pricey if you have many, but we often see them for $4.99 in my area. You can always scan the whole page with multiple photos and print them as an 8 1/2 X 11. ----- Original Message ----- From: <DPayne7378@aol.com> To: <WIGRANT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, July 05, 2002 1:02 PM Subject: [WIGRANT] Glued Pictures > Can someone tell me how to unglue pictures from a scrape book that has been > glued back to back. > > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > >
There's a product called, UN-DO which is an adhesive remover. It can be purchased at most craft stores where they sell scrapbooking. It works well as long as you take it slow and yes, it's a good idea to try to get a copy first.
