These message boards are a free service, so to them it is just for transferring information and connection up family relations. I really enjoy using these services, i have made several new family connections on them and received much information from them. The Spease reunion is that an annual event?? I probably wont be able to attend this year would consider it in the future. And I am sure that my father and uncle would be thrilled to attend also. Many years ago we had a reunion in Luverne, Minn (or Sioux Falls, SD, i was quite young remember the reunion but not the place) for the Spease "Clan" and I had a very good time getting to know family, but that is the last time I had contact with the majority of them. I will look forward to hearing from you. Am eager to get info. on my family. Thank you again. Laura

Please send me a message on my e mail above, then I can reply and it will go into my address book correctly. I would prefer to correspond that way. The rest of the internet scares me but I love my e mail since I am deaf and cannot use a telephone. Shirley Spease I misunderstood your message and thought you meant the father of George was George. The father of George is Johann Spiess and his wife is Maria Magdalena Benner. They have ten children. George and Lucy have six. All I have on William is three children: Pearl, Erma who married George J. Riter; and Fern Spease. George and Emma Riter have one child Fern Riter and resided in Brookings, s. D. I would love the info on william's family and you are welcome to all I have. I have Spease back in Germany. Please send me an e mail to spease@pcii.net Thank you, shirley spease

I will get my records out in a couple hours and see what I have. Maybe I do not have what you need. I thought Johannes was his father but haven't looked at that for awhile. I would love to know more about you. Next time I will write with your e mail. The Spease picnic is Aug. 11 in Platteville. Are you too far away to attend that? More later, Shirley spease

    3. Laura, You said you had an obiturary on Ellen (Spease) Julius. I am looking for descendants/children of Ludwig Carl Julius and his wife Catherine, who settled in Stitzer, Grant County, Wisconsin about 1850. I don't know if there is a connection as you didn't list dates. 3. Mary, My marriage books only list the date of marriage. If you request the actual marriage certificate from the courthouse it should provide at least their age as well as place of birth. It may have their actual date of birth. I'm not sure what the form looked like in those years. The courthouse address is: Grant County Register Of Deeds 130 West Maple St. P.O. Box 391 Lancaster, WI 53813-1625 (608) 723-2727 The cost is $7 and would need to be sent with your request. Dave Taft

    3. Dave, This Haney family came from Mahoning Co., Ohio sometime after 1842 where John Walker Haney was born. I have not been able to find exactly where in Wisconsin they first came to. I believe it was either Green or Grant Co. John and his wife Mary are listed in the 1880 census of Monroe, Green Co, WI and their first child that was listed in the census was Elizabeth born about 1869, Their other children were Grant, Batie, Eugene, John, James, Mary, Jennie, Austa, Eva, my great grandmother (Not listed in the 1900 census although she was born in 1884 in Monroe, Wisconsin) and Bennie who was born in 1891. I believe that Bennie was most likely the child of Elizabeth not John's. John W Haney is listed in the 1900 census of the Township of Sylvester. he is listed as a widow with his children Eugene, Jennie, Austa, and Bennie. John W's father John Haney is listed in the 1850 census in Grant Co, town of Highland with his wife Jane (Rebeka Walker), Rebecca, Isaac, Alva and John W. I believe this family went to both counties, Green and Grant. I have been unable to locate any information with the exception of my ggrandmother and Isaac, John's brother on any of these people. I did find the death death date of John Walker Haney in Chicago, Cook Co, IL in 1923. I hope this gives you a little more info. Thanks for all your help! Linda Duckett

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/lEC.2ACE/427.2.1.1 Message Board Post: Karen, I'll try and answer a couple of your questions. First, the administrator of the Farrand web site is: Sandra DeLoyd. Her e-mail address appears to be: harsan@clear.lakes.com Since she seems to have a large descendent tree posted, she may only had sketchy information on your line. I'm sure she would be glad to learn what you know and add it to her tree. Much of the information on the LDS site is data submitted by individual members and in the case of their new Pedigree Resource File, from anyone willing to submit. Like any on-line data submitted by individuals, it may have errors. I never accept these tree as gospel, but do use to information to try and find source records (birth, marriage, death, cemetery, land, etc.) to get the proof I need for my own files. It's unfortunate when erroneous data is posted on-line, whether it be LDS, Ancestry.Com, FTM, etc. What tends to happen is others use that information as "fact" and post it themselves. After a while you don't know what to believe. You always need to search out the source records. I'll keep my eye out for Quincy in the 1900 WI census and let you know if I locate him. I found Nathaniel just by scanning through Lancaster, but didn't notice Quincy. Keep up the search. Dave Taft

You just made my day! and my "angel" list. You're right they are not a "mystery" any longer! The previous info that I listed came from the LDS online site. As we can see their info isn't always totally correct. You wouldn't happen to know how to get things corrected with them, would you? I went to the FARRAND website you gave me. I'm wondering why Quincy & Catherine's child (my grt-gma) Elva Josephine FARRAND(born 06/60/1892-Lancaster, Grant, Wiscosin) wasn't listed? My grt-aunt Sylvia waslisted. (I have some info on her) Do you have any idea how I can contact that site's administrator? I'd love to have her info(and more) added to that site. Catherine's maiden name is rather shocking to me and my daughter. The reason is that my daughter's BEST girlfriend's surname is STEELE, also! Now, we are all wondering if she is distantly related to us. "Best G/F" gpa was Clyde & grt -gpa was Jack possibly from Texas. Clyde had 15 children. This is cause for a new search, now. If more people shared the knowledge they have about their families, willingly, we all wouldn't have to go through the stress of searching for those who are related us. Again, DAVE, I THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE! "Karen"/Marilyn Zinn

    1. [WIGRANT] August Ray Marriage
    2. David W. Taft
    3. Mary, Oops. Sorry about that previous blank message. Per the Grant Co., WI marriage records: August Ray married Blanche Peer, 30 May 1911. Recorded in Book 19, Page 47. August is recorded as the son of Adolph and Maria (Greene) Ray. Blanche the daughter of Samuel and Nancy J. (Dixon) Peer. Also: Will Ray married Bertha Peer, 29 Dec 1909. Recorded in Book 19, Page 27. Will is recorded as the son of ?Unknown? Ray?? and Louisa Ray. Bertha the daughter of Samuel and Nancy J. (Dixon) Peer. In the "Parents" book transcribed by Kathleen Grattan Henderson, Will's father is listed as ? Ray. The way this was listed, it would appear that his father was unknown and maybe his mother, Louisa may have had Will out of wedlock. You would need to request the original record from the courthouse to be sure what it says. Generally, both parents are listed at least by their first name. In this case, it would appear that Louisa may have been a Ray, her husband, maybe not?? The Peer girls were obviously sisters. You may want to request these records from the Grant Co. courthouse to see just where the marriages took place. That might lead you to a newspaper in the county that listed the marriages. A marriage record might provide some insight. Do you know where Will was married? The 1900 census might provide a clue. Wish I could provide more, but this seems to be a mystery. Dave Taft
