Yes ! She moved there in the 1920's ! My grandfather was born in Los Angeles......I found his birth record, which is how I found out her maiden name of Eastman. I'm following up on your suggestion of looking up a marriage record. I put in a request in L.A. county for her marriage certificate, hopefully it will give me something concrete to tie her to Gurley......there are so many coincidences I've found, I'm almost sure she is Gurley's daughter, but I just need to find that one thing that will let me know for sure !!! Thanks again for all your help, Dave. Deanna P.S. Do you know of any way I would be able to look up her birth record in Wisconsin without knowing what county she was born in ? -----Original Message----- From: David W. List, Another hint that I forgot to mention when trying to search using just a date, for single digits like 1 Feb 1880, you need to type in 01 Feb 1880. Your search characters must be in the same format as their database. Also, the Pre-1907 marriage database at Ancestry is a subscription database. This same index is available on microfiche through the LDS if you live by an LDS Family History Center. This database and the LDS copy only includes WI counties through "part" of Racine. The remainder of Racine through Wood counties are only available on microfilm through the LDS. Pre- 1907 marriages for all WI counties is also available at the Wisconsin Historical Society in Madison. Dave Taft _______________________________________ Sent via the Cowtown Net WebMail system
Shelly, The following individuals are recorded as being married in Eau Clair Co., on 13 May 1876, in Vol. 1, Pg. 257: Agnette Onrud 13 May 1876 Eau Claire 01 0257 Maren Pederson 13 May 1876 Eau Claire 01 0257 Jens Lauriston 13 May 1876 Eau Claire 01 0257 Adolph P Lee 13 May 1876 Eau Claire 01 0257 Who married who is still the question. Maren Pederson looks most likely for Mary. These records are available on microfilm from the LDS. Or, for $7, you could request the records from the County or the State. The marriage record should include their ages, birthplaces, and names of parents. Usually at least the parent's first names are listed. Additionally, the following is a marriage in Eau Claire on 13 May 1876 in Vol. 1, Pg. 260: David Amidon 13 May 1876 Eau Claire 01 0260 Cordelia Newhall 13 May 1876 Eau Claire 01 0260 You can search the individual marriage database at: http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/inddbs/4997a.htm After you get "half" of the couple or nothing, you have the option to refine the search. In the field, enter the date and county (i.e. 13 May 1876 Eau Claire) and then you should get everything for that particular date. Hello! According to Ancestry's Wisconsin marriages, Adolph P. LEE married 13 May 1876 (Vol. 1, page 0257) in Eau Claire County. Who did he marry? I believe he married Mary ?. I have tried a search with a variety of combinations. Mary's middle name could be Ann/Anne/Anna or Pauline/Paulina. If anyone has access to these records, I sure would appreciate some help. I am wondering of the Jackson he is looking for might be a different Jackson. I have some Jacksons in my Julius family tree, but they were mainly from Virgina and Kentucky.
