But, according to the records that are on the Farrand website(created by Sandra DeLoyd Popiel, address previously posted by David Taft), Ebenezer is Nathaniel's brother, son of Ira and did marry a Chole. Sandra's family records show marriage to Chole but, records she has found show marriage to a Sarah Parker in MI on 7 April 1847 and another MI marriage to a Frances E. Vanbrunt(this was in her notes). Nothing else is listed about Ebenezer so, it looks like you may have found his missing data. (Thank you for sharing it) It appears from that Cordelia J & Jane C are indeed the same person in these census records. Have you been able to locate a birth record for your Grt-Grt-Grandmother? It would be, obviously, the best way to prove if her father was Ebenezer and who his wife was. If you find out anymore info I'd love to hear from you about it. By the way, Nathaniel J Farrand is my Grt-Grt-Grt-Grandfather. "Karen"/Marilyn Zinn

Kevin, Thanks for offering to look up Andersonville prisoners. I am looking for any information on Harlow Bowen (who was married to Victoria Regina Chesnut in Grant Co. in 1859). I believe he died in Andersonville Prison. I am also looking for information on his brother-in-law and my great great great grandfather, Lorenzo Latham (who was married to Olintha Chestnut in Grant Co. in 1855) who died in the Confederate Prison Camp at Providence, Louisiana. Is there anyone willing to do free look ups there? Thanks!

Kim, Thanks for the information. I have found some information for people, and some is just not there. To all who read this list, however, rest assured I will be looking the map over several times before returning it. So if, in the future, I come across one of the names I was asked to look up, I will let you know. I have already found some information for people after telling them that there is nothing there. I use a magnifying glass to see as much as I can, but do miss sometimes. So your patience is always appreciated. And a great BIG THANK YOU to all of you who give so much of yourselves to rest of us. Sure would like to know more about him. I have sent to the Grant Co. Gen. Soc. for cemetery information, but maybe, someone out there has some information also. Serena in Michigan SOliphant@aol.com
I was wondering if anyone has these names on their research lists. I would like to find out more about these fairly current families. I just sent a letter to the Gen. Soc. to get cemetery info, but wondered if anyone else is researching them. Serena in Michigan SOliphant@aol.com

Dave, I was so glad to hear from you. *Indeed* this family of mine is very od d in its Census records! There are quite a few "Anna Winney's," for example, over the years! And their fathers had very similar names themselves- William J. Winney, William H. Winney-- and there is more than one William H. Winney (in the same town!) And sometimes, though I know that this is "my" family, the Head of Household is simply listed as "William." And there is also a "Henry" Winney who is a contemporary of William H. Winney! These people sure name their descendents after themselves- in droves! >>Who is Dora? << Never heard of her before this Census (of 1880). She would be a second of now *three* wives! Which I find very doubtful. I have decided that the 1880 Census with William H. Winney and a daughter named Cora and a daughter named Anna- though these are the right names- their dates of birth are *mostly* off! And as far as I know, there is no Sybil Winney in my GGrandfather's family. My Wm. H. Winney was born in 1832. Making his date off too. (But his mother *was* born in Missouri and Anna Elizabeth, being born in 1869, had her age not too far off!) I have my William H. Winney having wife #1 as (Sarah) Elizabeth (Taylor) Winney and wife #2 as Mary L. Winney. Sorry, I don't have her maiden name. From my GGrandfather's Will, he had three living children in 1901 when he made out his Will: Anna Elizabeth (my GGrandmother), Luke Winney and William Winney. Anna Elizabeth was born in 1869, so having her be 17 in 1880 is close to being right; but her sister Cora was born only 1 year later, which messes that all up. And I never heard of Sybill either and there is a child missing: Luke who was born in 1878. >>Where did William H. Winney die? >> I am not sure. After living in Wisconsin for a long time, the whole family moved to Goewey twp, Osceola Co., IA. My GGrandmother Anna Winney married George A. Spencer in 1888 in Sibley, Osceola Co., IA. Her son, George E. Spencer was born in 1894 in Iowa, and my mother and her siblings were all born in Iowa. You would think that W.H. Winney would remain with his family in Iowa, especially as he was growing older. But when I found William H. Winney's Will, dated 1901 (he died in 1907); he filled out his will in South Dakota! My 3 families who seemed to have come together in Wisconsin, then moved by wagon train to Iowa were the Spencers, the Perrys and then finally the Winneys. Ironically my mother's grandfather-- another side of the family-- was James Flanagan-- whose family home was in Beresford, South Dakota! I am not even sure that the Winney's even knew the Flanagans! But they sure ended up in the same places! I deeply thank you for the referals and address! *And* the very welcome advice. Any future thoughts are *most* welcome!
