What I mean exactly is that in 1930, none of Dewane or Geneva's children (Archie, Ruth, Velma) lived at the home with them. By 1930 the only ones at that address were grandpa Dewane, grandma Geneva and grandson Gordon. One other note (which does not surprise me)- listed next to Gordon in the 1930 census "father's counrty of origin" are "???-US". So apparently no one knew where Gordon's father was from when the census was taken. I have started pursuing the Hull family. Hopefully I can determine which daughter is the mother. But the SSN you provided suggests that Gordon was born in CA, not WI. I have ordered it anyway :) Thanks again for your help. Any more advice from you or anyone with Hull knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Mark Smith
Hi, List. I came across this name in a long list of Grant County Civil War soldiers and remembered the surname from recent WIGRANT list messages: Alva Haney Co. H., 25th Wisconsin Regiment Mary Thiele Fobian Independent Writer/Editor Associate Editor, Reunions Magazine
Because one line of my family is very well documented I generally test these types of sites with that name by seeking when the generations begin and end to determine the validity of the data. This site seems to offer scant and incomplete data. Additionally, data which is more difficult to obtain seems to be missing. One example is brothers and sisters which moved away from the core family to another geographic location. I agree with David that is appears to be a scam. ----- Original Message ----- From: "David W. List, I don't believe that the OneGreatFamily web site has any thing in common or connection to the LDS. In fact it appears to be a scam just looking to take a few bucks out of your pocket. You can learn more from Jeff Scism's "International Blacksheep Society of Genealogist's" site at: http://blacksheep.rootsweb.com/shame/index.html Jeff is the investigative reporter for genealogists, and a member of this list. As always, use caution and check out any site before paying a subscription fee. Who was that who said "a fool and his money are soon parted?" Dave Taft
I'm pretty sure that this website is connected to the LDS organization and all of their information is free on their Family Search website. This costs money after your 7 day "free" trial is over and they don't tell you how much it is. -----Original Message----- From: John Dvorak [mailto:j.w.dvorak@worldnet.att.net] Sent: Tuesday, September 03, 2002 6:11 PM To: WIGRANT-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [WIGRANT] Website I found http://www.onegreatfamily.com/?lid=8018 is a real good website I found that everyone on the list might like to peruse....Give it a try. While researching my family name, Kreinberg, I came across a listing in the 1920 census for a Joseph Kreinberg and family living in Cassville, WI. They are listed in ED 95 and as the resolution on my screen isn't that good, I can't tell what the name actually is. Joseph is listed as a merchant, living with his wife Bertha, and children Hilda, Agnes and Robert. The 1930 census isn't any more legible. As this Joseph is totally unknown to me, I am hoping somebody on the list might have more accurate information, a city directory, etc. to help me decipher the family name. Thanks Grant Kreinberg Fairfield, CA

The article in the newspaper states: "Mimicking his lauded predecessor, Judge George Clementson, who invoked imaginings of the future in the crowd of thousands that gathered to witness the laying of the red brick cornerstone of the courthouse 100 years ago by immuring a time capsule in its confines, Judge George Curry reported that he too will seal away a record of the courthouse's centennial celebration, not to be opened for a century. When Curry seals his capsule, there will be three in the courthouse; one sealed inside the cornerstone, to be opened when the courthouse falls down; another in the basement sealed in 1976, to be opened in 2076; and Curry's to be opened in 2102." Might the one that is sealed in the cornerstone be the one you are talking about? There is no further mention in the article about other Centennial Boxes.
