I pass this sad news to the many of you who knew Alta through her hard work and interest of family genealogy and the research Alta and Wayne Guyant did in many of the Wisconsin cemteries in the 1970's. Alta passed away Sunday, November 30, 2003 and her obituary is below from the Appleton Post Crescent. Paula WaupacaCC Guyant, Alta E. Neenah formerly of Waupaca Age 84, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2003 at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center in Neenah. She was born on March 6, 1919 in the Town of Belmont, Portage County, WI; a daughter of the late Dale F. and Zada A. (Lewis) Dent but she was raised by her grandparents, Frank B. and Ernie M. (Watson) Dent. She married Wayne A. Guyant on June 12, 1936 in the Town of Belmont, Portage County. He preceded her in death on October 20, 1995. Alta was a member of the Pioneer 4-H Club, was a Secretary in Pickerel Lake Grange, belonged to Crystal Lake Squares, Waupaca Squares and Fox Valley Square Dance Clubs. She was the Waupaca Coordinator and life member of the Wisconsin State Old Cemetery Society, also life member in the Wisconsin State Genealogical Society and Waupaca Area Genealogical Society. Alta worked for Jewitt and Sherman Pickle Company in Blaine from 1947-1957 and for Woodys Cheese Company in Waupaca from 1957-1972. Her hobbies were family genealogies and copying cemeteries. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Waupaca. Alta was a great lover of kitties. Survivors include a daughter, Mary (Tex) Helms, Neenah; three sons: Dale (Geraldine) Guyant, Zephyrhills, Florida; Gary (Sue) Guyant, Neenah; Jerry (Beverly) Guyant, Neenah; 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Lila Larson, Waupaca; Leona Larson, Waupaca; Anna Young, Almond; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis and brother-in-law, Paul Pope. Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her sister, June Baker; grandparents and three brothers-in-law. Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 4 at 1 p.m. at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca with Rev. Paul Nulton officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca.
