    1. [WIGEN-L] Non-Reponse from County Coordinators.. I have a dilemma
    2. Hi all, Remember when, we all hashed out the guidelines for maintaining WIGenWeb Project pages, how we all voted and came to the conclusion that what was posted on http://www.rootsweb.com/~wigenweb/volunteer-pages.html was what the majority of folks could live with? Well, I have a dilemma.. and I choose to bring it to all of you. I need your input. It has been brought to my attention that some of the County sites are showing non-host involvement. None that I have announced lately, all of those contacted me and worked with me to place their counties up for adoption. But, others have not.. Hate to admit it, but it be so :-( I have contacted the hosts in question, and asked for a response, offered help, done everything that I can think of to assist. Sometimes I get an answer, many times I don't. It is the case of "I don't's", that I need help with. Bottom line is I guess, for all of us, the mission of the WIGenWeb Project is to provide genealogical material and information on line free to our visitors. We are all volunteers, I understand that and respect that. Can all of you give some thought to what the guidelines should be for non-response of CC's and assist me in fairly remedying situations that require it. Tina

    3. Tina, It is my opinion only here. If you have tried and tried to contact the CC and haven't heard back from them and nothing has been done with their website in a while, then I feel they have given up on being a CC and we should then find a CC who would be willing to accept the county. In the past, I have had to go for several weeks without showing any activity on my website, due to personal responsibilities, but no matter how crazy my life has been, I have always made sure I downloaded mail at least once a week and checked for things that needed to be answered and couldn't wait. I realize not everyone does the same thing I do, but perhaps if something is happening in a CC's life that is making it to crazy for them to put the time into their county, maybe it would help to relieve the stress of dealing with it until a time comes when they would be able to handle it again. Does that make sense? I guess as a long shot you could perhaps try one final e-mail with something in the header stating a response needed by and then list a date and tell them if you don't get a reply, you will be forced to place their county up for adoption. I know that would do it for me, but then again I would have responded after the first attempt. I would also like to toss a warning message to all my fellow CC's. I have received two e-mails today from a Nancy B. These messages had an attachment that was an infected virus. The e-mails appear to be a photo she is willing to share with others for the county page, but McAfee caught them both as a infected worm virus. The attachment is called AnnaKournikova.jpg.vbs I have tried to write to this person thinking perhaps she had no idea, the e-mail bounced back to me. Have a great week, Debie Blindauer Calumet & Sheboygan County
